Subject: Tri Bike vs Road Bike
I am racing in St George for my first IM and am debating on whether I should ride a Tri Bike or a Road Bike. the debate comes from the supposed hills. The course is set up to be 2 loops with a 2000' incline over 20 miles each loop. I live in Las Vegas and commonly do a route which has a 1000' climb over 10 miles (so this doesn't seem too crazy to me). Am I kidding myself or should I really be thinking that a Road Bike is the better choice?
Thoughts????

I rode the course this weekend and most of the hills are rollers or slight inclines. There are three main hills to deal with, but none are really bad. I did IM Canada last year and this bike seems much easier. I am riding my tri bike as there was lots of time spent in aero.

Hmm, I tried to drive it a couple of weeks ago but found that the directions posted on the site were incomplete. I made a turn on one of the roads and it led to a dead end and I couldn't get back on track. Did you find the route on the other side of the dead end?
Or based on your screen name and number of posts, are you simply for some reason messing with me =

There is one road not finished yet. I think it was Buena Vista. We just went on the other side of the freeway and continued. The rest of the course is there. We did notice that some of the course could use some road work because the road was very bumpy.

This may not help, but I am riding my road bike with aerobars.  I have been fitted over and over again on my tri bike and I have yet to find a fit were I can climb in the aero position.  So, i bought a new road bike last year and slapped some aerobars on it and now any tri with some climbing I use the road bike.  If is flat with a just a few rollers I will ride the tri bike.
