Swim
Comments: I definitely took it easy on the swim. Could have eeked out a much faster time if I really applied myself, but I'm always reluctant to push it. Plus, my cute little pink goggles were leaking, which was a distraction. What would you do differently?: Prepare better and attempt to really apply myself. I went into this race mostly just for the fun of it, and if I had truly applied myself, I could have been a top competitor. Transition 1
Comments: This wasn't one of my better transitions. I had a hard time getting my suit off and I struggled to get onto the bike and out. What would you do differently?: Have shoes ready to go, get wetsuit off while throwing on helmet, etc. Just take T1 seriously :) Bike
Comments: The bike was good, but I could have been better. Didn't let anyone pass me on the bike, and I passed a good number of people on the bike. Felt strong, but knew I could have been pushing harder. What would you do differently?: Push harder! Transition 2
Comments: I just suck at transitions :) Need to practice them to get better. Need to get my breathing under control before I enter bike/run transition. What would you do differently?: Get my feet out and on top of shoes before entering staging area so I can just hop off in my socks. Run
Comments: I struggled on this measly 5K, mostly because I wasn't "in the mood" to push harder. Just didn't have the mental edge I needed. If I hadn't walked part of this run, I'd have easily been in the sub-eight pace... What would you do differently?: RUN THROUGH THE PAIN! I'd better figure it out before the 26.2 mi this weekend! Post race
Warm down: Light stretch- visit and BS with people. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of mental preparedness. I think fatigue from helping set up the night before may have been a factor, along with a bit of dehydration from the day before. But who knows, I don't like excuses either. Bottom line is that I didn't apply myself the way I would liked to have. I should have had a time 4-5 min faster than I did! :) Event comments: This race is awesome -- but then again, I am partially biased since I helped create it :) That's why I figured I'd give it a four instead of a five. It could use some improvement, but most races can. All in all, I'd say it was an improvement over last year's event, and it was a ton of fun! Loved the venue-- the course was beautiful and the difficulty was minimal. It was FUN without too much pain! Last updated: 2009-09-14 12:00 AM

Help set up day before race, and help with direction (a little) in the morning.
Had to run to the gas station to get a pair of goggles (since I forgot mine!! D'oh!) Decided to hop on the bike and ride there instead of driving to get a little warmup. It was about a 4-5 mi. round trip. Got in the water and stretched a bit, but really didn't prepare very well.
