What is the best treatment to overcome a 6+ month achilles injury? I've tried all of the options I've given below.

Also is walking and cycling beneficial for the injury or bad for it? I can walk reasonably (1 hour + without any pain). I can do flats without much pain but hills and out of the saddle makes it stiff afterwards and quite sore.

i had/have achilles tendonitis.. Physical Thearpy did the trick..

dorsal flexsions and calf raises.. with resistance band.. one leg balancing. step overs with a 8" high box.. balancing on a bosu ball one leg.. icing, stretching.

hot and cold soak.. cold water for 2 mins and then 2 mins in hot. do this for about 8 mins.. helps reduce inflammation... i tend to do this when im at the pool.. swap between pool and jacuzzi

you want to take it easy on bike.. climbing.. seated riding is cool

Ok, I've been starting massages butmy friend told me that it's not a muscle so no point in that...

Seems ice, stretching and physio exercises is the way to go. And I'm going to continue to walk, swim and bike.

PHYSICAL THEARPY!!!!!! is what you need... trust me.

This is one of those things you don't want to fool around with.. the achilles is a tendon.. and it not a muscle.. that why i said resistant band. to help stretch and loosen it..

you have to figure out why you have this injury.. shoes, running form, not stretching enough, overtraining.. not taking rest days..

this is just my opinion.. because i went through it already.

While massaging the tendon may not do much, stretching/strengthening/massaging the muscles in the calf might help. Overly tight calf muscles can place added strain on the tendon, leading to inflammation and damage.
