Some observations...Only ran with it twice & nil else...nevertheless...1. It catches the satelite signal much faster than my previous 305. You can view which satellites are being triangulated, which is neat for tech geeks.2. It can vibrate as well as alarm. Don't like the vibrate. Find it annoying & hence turned off.3. It feels a little smaller than my 305, but only marginally.4. Picked up the HR monitor from my 305 immediately. No need for another. Very Nice.5. The longer battery in nice. Can use the wireless download & not have to charge nearly as much.6. Changing from bike to run requires less buttons & is easier.Still waiting to use on bike with cadence sensor...

General consenus is this is deafintaly a step up from previous models, however one could question if the advertising has been a tad misleading, GPS is useless for the swim and the price hike compared to 305 makes me question if it is worth it. I had the 405 which actually looked like a watch (I have tiny wrists and would feel abit silly with a brick on my wrist), unfortunatly the watch didnt agree to being hit at 70km/h by a ski gate during a race (forgot to take it off).

However knowing my consumerous nature I will probably invest in one for my first HM in 3 weeks.

How? I think Garmin has been very straight forward with letting customers know that the GPS and HR will not work correctly when swimming.

I was reading the reviews on Amazon and a noticable portion stated they felt mislead, I think this problem will be only prevalent with beginners or the non-tech savvy or people who buy things so quickly they make dumb mistakes (aka me accidentally buying two iPods and an Edge 205 instead of 305)

also I remember looking at the video ad for it and my impression was I could swim in it with features (obviously further research proved wrong, but a lot of people me included buy things without doing in depth research)....but that is just my $0.02

I like all the features, I just think the wireless uploading is horrible and buggy and I've had to wipe the device for corrupt files a couple times and have lost workouts because it wouldn't upload properly to the GarminConnect site. Other than that I like it.

Acumen - my buddy has a 405 and has the same issues.  I have a 405 and just upload to TrainingCenter on my box and no issues.
