Subject: Swimming in Etobicoke - HELP!

I need help! I am planning on doing a HIM next summer and am desperately trying to find a swim group (masters or tri specific) to join in Etobicoke. I have inquired with the Etobicoke Olympium but they have a waiting list, and won’t be accepting any new members till March plus its $700. Anybody know any other options out there or have any other suggestions for me?

There are a couple of options
Alderwood and Norseman - see more info at this link http://www.mastersswimmingontario.ca/clubs/msoclubalpha.html
The Alderwood club looks pretty active.

I remember  Cawthra pool in Mississauga (not far from Etobicoke) on Thursday nights have triathlon training swims. Call them to find out more.

Mississauga also has a what is called "Tri Splash and Dash" coached sessions at the Huron Park pool - not too far from Etobicoke.  You might want to check if any of the times work for you (http://www1.city.mississauga.on.ca/connect2rec/Activities/ActivitiesDetails.asp?ProcessWait=N&aid=1272).

I haven't taken any of the courses there yet, but based on local recommendations I am signed up for level 2 in January.

There is also a wave pool in Mississauga that offers tri training - listed on the same site.

naother option is just getting a coah or taking a few lesons. I tokk some lessons last year and then just went ahead on my own and swam. I di the Muskoka 70.3 this year and had no difficulty at all with the swim. It was the rest of the race that caused problems
