ilucy2 - 2009-10-07 8:05 AM My gym seem to have cleared, with all the windows and two fans blowing. Lungs are still a bit icky. Got a 3 miler in today, did a bit of speed work.

Nice job!

on a really TRULY sad note...the girl I saw who was being given CPR at the half marathon on Sunday...died! as did another fellow that made it to just 50 yards from the finishing shoot and he also collapsed and died.

was on the news this morning...and in the paper yesterday...

cant believe some of the stupid comments being made by some non runners....please keep the families in your prayers and thoughts. Rumor has it that the guys family saw the entire collapse and death! She was 34 and he was 35!?!? WTF???

Wow.  That is truly sad.  Thoughts and prayers are with their families.

yes...I saw the girl and I guess Fielding from BT saw the guy right at the finishing shoot! both were being worked on by many medics! to think they just thought they were going for a long run....no big deal!!!! ;(

Oh can I have a favor - whoever voodoo'd me and my flat tires can please stop the torture.  I think I am up to 10 on the year (since June basically) after yesterdays flat on the way home.

holy smokes that's a lot of flats!

I guess its time for me to take all of the pins out that I stuck in my little biker doll's tires

disturbed275 - 2009-10-06 4:26 AM For the record, stairs are a vile, evil creation.

haha...were you standing at the bottom looking up just like in that video I sent? that is sooo true. In fact the parking they had all the athletes/runners park in for the hm was up a set of 20 or more stairs....if you did not walk up them..you had to go around a block to this ramp....there were only a few brave runners who climbed the stairs..most walked the block (and I did too!) no stairs for me!

and now the question of the day!?? how many stairs? and how long did it take you? oh and were you going up...or down those stairs?

3 flights of stairs and I had to go up and down them at least 10 times today.  Down was far worse than up.  I'm shuddering still thinking about it Darn our split level facility!

I feel your pain! hope your legs are all stretched out and ready for those climbs and descents today! good luck my freind!

Definite improvement today!

mmmmmmmmmm sounds good!

kromanowski - 2009-10-06 9:34 AM Question of the Day: Does anyone else have a mental block when it comes to going beyond a certain distance?  And if you did and have pushed past it how did you do it?

Mine is the 6 mile mark...I am fine running 5 miles, 6 miles I have done once or twice and am reasonably ok but I (mentally) freak out when I think about doing anything more...I have never gone further than six.

katie one of the things I was told is to go with time and not distance that way you pass 6 miles and didn't even know you did it! (until you log your miles) So I would just run for x min and before you know it you passed your distance.

I hope everyone got a good nights sleep! AND has great runs today!

I have 3 miles planned for later today and the weather should be perfect here for it.

LET'S GO GHOULIES!!!

spooktacular! way to get that run in! and I want to know what is perfect weather to you??? me its mid to upper 70's...with sunny skies!

It is supposed to be low 70's and sunny today. For me that is not too hot, and not too cold, it's juuuuuuusst right!

No bragging.  I won't see 70's again until next May or when I travel for work to my warm locals during the winter months.  It was 45 this morning for my ride to work.  Pretty bad when I was excited because that is going to be warm in 3 months!

I hear ya Bill....45 for my run this AM but the sun was shining so the kids were like it is soooo hot today!

It was 64 until I actually got out, but it still wasn't bad. I'm not looking forward to having to run or bike in the 40's. I don't take the cold well. <shiver>

will find a way... The human body can survive on surprisingly little sleep.

yes, soooooooooo true when you are young...but at my age...I need all the sleep I can get...I consider it my beauty sleep! if I dont get a good 8-9 hours of sleep...Im worthless the next day...well, more so then usual! LOL

I can survive for about a week on 3 a night, but then I have to get at least 8-10 one weekend night...5 will get me by fairly regularly

3 a night?  Wow!  Sounds like me in college.  No way I could do that now.

was that book related no sleep or alcohol consumption related no sleep???

mndymond - 2009-10-06 5:26 PM Hey Guys! Finished another run today! I'm happy I did it this morning and got it done because its sure WINDY now....50km/h winds with gusts up to 90km/h...severe wind warning! haha...

Wow!  Severe winds may be an understatement.  Smart move getting the run done early!

even smarter would be to run for the shelters! be careful...when we have those types of winds...trees fall, power goes out...we get our neighbors trash can...lose our backyard umbrella, and cant tell you how many plants I have to go and stand back up after they go toppling over! then I have to find my big bad watchdog...usually she is under the bed! ok...she is not so big and bad...but more of a skeeeardy cat! haha

Morning team...I am trying to move my runs around this week so I can be a supportive wife and still get all my miles in.

What I think I am going to do is...Move today's work out to Friday (the DH wants to go to dinner with friends tonight, but if we don't go then I will do the run tonight), do tomorrows planned 4 miles as planned, and then do the six miler on Saturday afternoon after going to the farmers market and visiting the marathons expo for the DH, but before going out for pasta.

Sound good?

So Saturday night we had our big fall party down at my In-Law's. They are against any kind of drinking at all. It's all evil, blah blah whatever. Do you notice I don't share the same opinion?

Friends of mine were coming and they knew about the In-Laws not being fans of alcohol. Both of them come walking across the yard carrying blue cups, instead of the clear plastic ones everyone was using. My friend asked me if I like Tonic or Fresca. I enjoyed the evening drinking 2 rather large blue cups full of vodka and Fresca. I had a very nice buzz on and as far as I know no one knows what we were doing. It felt like I was 16 again trying to hide it from my parents instead of 36 and well beyond legal. It was a nice night for a bonfire and to be outside.
