what do you do about your bike. I would feel nervious about shipping it, what if they loose it wtf that would suck. I'm doing a sprint in Delaware on the 11th I'm signing up for it tommorow, and plan on doing North Carolina on nov 8th, but its not set in stone yet. I plan on driving to both.

I have a trico ironcase.  Last year I flew to many races - this year this will be my second.  I am very comfortable taking my bike apart and reassembling (my LBS taught me) and at the airport I ask to go with them to TSA as they inspect to make sure that it is put back together properly.

the first time I flew I rented a bike case from my LBS - so they taught me how to take the pedals off/put them back on, seat, aerobars....
and how to pack the case.

TSA in Boston will open it up for inspection.  You are allowed to be there to watch to make sure they don't screw it up which could cause damage to the bike.

thankfully has not happened to me.

I get to town with an extra day and a half, so there are bike stores to rent from, friends to borrow from....if it came to that.  I watch carefully how it is labeled, etc.

the pros all manage to fly around the world with their bikes and it is their LIVING

it is my hobby....

lol right, I just did my fourth and started about 2 1/2 months ago and all I can think about is training and the next race. I used to run in college and used to be on a swim team so I know I can get my times down I really want to do some serious biking to pull it all together since I just started biking. Yeaah I'm hooked.

planning next season helps....I have already registered for Florida 70.3 in May and plan to register for Timberman 70.3 for late August.  Those will anchor the season.

Then  I will fill in with olys and sprints.....

I find off season a great time to work on biking - being forced indoors onto the trainer actually ups my game.  The workouts are painful and intense.  but my FTP always goes up!

Nice, I am gonna do Timberman, as well as mooseman an a couple others as long as they don't overlap each other. I have a pool membership at umass boston and used to goto college in Maine so running in four feet of snow is nothing for me. I just need to get a trainer now and then I wont even skip a beat. How much different is the competion when you go to florida, is it alot tougher or do you find New England to be more competitive?

depends on the race.  Miamiman will be my 3rd florida race.  My first was my very first race, I was in the 'myfirsttri' division - came in 4th overall and won my AG. No where near that since - but it was also a MFT division....second race was St. Anthony's - very competitive.

will let you know after the next !!!

I just called them they do say that they will just update it unfortunately she hung up before I remembered to ask how long that would take. so far I finished 71/ 451, 10/155, 49/444, 26/536 for overall but two of those races I was listed as newbie and I know age group wise I finished 4/536, 2/155 the other two I would have to count which would take for ever and my eyes would go cross lol.

your placement is only part of it  - I think it is how far off of a standard person on the race or something weird
