Total Time = 1h 09m 50s
Overall Rank = /

Age Group Rank = 0/
Pre-race routine:

get coffee and gatorade and drive an hour to race site. Get race packet and setup
Event warmup:

Short jog and some stretching. Then a good long warmup swim.
Swim
  • 11m 18s
  • 450 yards
  • 02m 31s / 100 yards
Comments:

This was my best swim in a tri yet. I kept my head down, got within 5 feet of both buoys and was never off course. Great to get that monkey off my back.
What would you do differently?:

more swim training. Not much swimming in May. Move up a little more at the start.
Transition 1
  • 01m 4s
Comments:

Decent T1. I had to squirt the mud off my feet. Reduced time by 36 secs over last race.
Bike
  • 27m 25s
  • 9.2 miles
  • 20.13 mile/hr
Comments:

Went a little harder on bike this time. Felt pretty good and was nice to be able to drink my gatorade/red bull mix on bike. Last race bottle was still frozen! I was 1 min faster than last race.
What would you do differently?:

More biking. Only had one bike ride in month of May.
Transition 2
  • 01m 6s
Comments:

no problems, a little longer to get some gatorade since they have this hydration fluid in tiny little sip cups. I was 12 secs slower than last race, but this was from getting gatorade since I knew I didn't like the drink last time.
Run
  • 28m 54s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 19s  min/mile
Comments:

Legs were stiff first mile and HR was higher since haven't trained as much. Went too slow second mile which brought my time higher than last time by 30secs. Good kick last 1/2 mile. Passed someone who passed me at mile 1 and about 10 other people.
What would you do differently?:

Concentrate more. I ran 10:11 on second mile. Must have been zoning or something.
Post race
Warm down:

walk around, fluids, get sticky bun!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

training time. Wife broke her foot and I have been pretty busy with the extra work.

Event comments:

This is a nice low key race! Not very crowded and short. Good training races. It's a 4 race series through Sep.

Great race, you have to be happy with that especially with the "life" situations that you are going through.

Tell me a little more about red bull and Gatorade!!

Great race and congratulations

Thanks Geoff!

Adverbia, this is a great low-key race. There were only 106 triathletes and about 50 duathletes. Great race to see where you are at. I live an hour away and I was home by 10am too, so if you live close, then can't hardly so no :-)

Great race Cameron. Your times are really good too. It was good to talk to you the other day to find out that the swim portion of the race changed a bit to be slightly longer and is not in the form of a big triangle. I'll be at the next one in July!!!

Great job Cameron.  Really pushed it on the bike.  Isn't it great in Florida that it's so hot you can freeze a drink bottle overnight and it's nice and thawed out by the time you bike??<img align='middle' src='https://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/images/emoticons/smile.gif'>

Great pics Cameron.  Although shouldn't you be moving towards T1 a little faster??   Just kidding.  A really nice job, it is amazing how far we have come in a year.

Thanks guys! The pic is misleading :-) I looked down as I got out of the water to see out of water time and the pic makes it look like I was just standing there!

snikpos, I am planning on doing the Loggerhead in Aug, maybe see you'll there.
