Total Time = 5h 54m 46s
Overall Rank = 1407/2525
Age Group = F 40-44
Age Group Rank = 54/136
Pre-race routine:

run around unorganized like usual, coffe & bagel w/ peanut butter in hotel before leaving
Event warmup:

none, just walked around at the start
Swim
  • 27m 36s
  • 2143 yards
  • 01m 17s / 100 yards
Comments:

Good swim for me, despite all the debris in the water. I wanted to get further out into the middle to catch more current, but was stuck closer to shore but ended up with a good time for me.
What would you do differently?:

Learn to swim faster to improve my time even more.
Transition 1
  • 03m 55s
Comments:

I was so worried about being able to get my wetsuit off my feet, but there were these young boys offering to strip the thing off. How could I say not to that! They saved me several minutes I am sure.
What would you do differently?:

Make sure to only do races with wetsuit strippers.
Bike
  • 2h 58m 40s
  • 56 miles
  • 18.81 mile/hr
Comments:

Ok bike for me, I didn't really push too hard because I didn't want to blow up on the run. Should have pushed it more. Had to make a pit stop at the last water exchange which should have taken less than a minute but took three because there was a guy in the port-o-potty and he wouldn't come out!
What would you do differently?:

Push myself harder.
Transition 2
  • 01m 46s
Comments:

Quick for me.
Run
  • 2h 22m 49s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 10m 54s  min/mile
Comments:

By the time I got off the bike I was feeling so sick to my stomach. I just ran/walked the 13.1 miles the best I could. I never stopped moving forward.
What would you do differently?:

Figure out why I feel sick at races. Once I figure that out, learn to run faster.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Sloshing sick feeling stomach.

Event comments:

I wanted to break 6 hours, which I did. I wish I had finished feeling better though. Yesterday I thought I never wanted to race again, but today I'm trying to figure out which HIM to do next. And of course Louisville next year, I guess since I paid for it I'll have to do it too.

I think this race was very well organized. The mandatory meeting and packet pickup went smooth, expo had a lot of cool stuff. On race day every wave seemed to start right on time. Tons of volunteers out on the course, all of them very nice and encouraging. Only complaint is the shirt, it's very boxy and fits horribly. Other than that, they did a great job with as many athletes as they had.

Great job Karen.  I need to start following you around.  I think I could speed up a bit if I worked harder and you are just enough faster than I am to make me work harder.
