Pre-race routine:

Woke up 2 hours before race time and started with a cup of coffee and a simple luna bar. Knew this race would be an easy effort, fun time, and didn't stress about being 100% ready. Showed up at the race site approximately 45 minutes early.

Found a business awning to stand under to avoid the rain.
Event warmup:

Showed up and got escorted around. Since it was the "Race for the Cure" there was a survivor parade to start things up.

Was positioned fairly close to the front, but then again, so were the walkers, a few moms with strollers, and the occasional runner

Comments:

Didn't take any water on the course. The rain helped keep me cool throughout and I sort of "cameled" up the night before.

Saw racing bibs numbered up to 15408.
What would you do differently?:

Actually "race" this run.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, drank a water, visited through the "Sponsor Village", then watched the 1 mile fun run.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Doctors Orders. Told not to race it, to take it easy, stretch really well afterwards, and at the first sign of tibia/fibula pain to walk.

Event comments:

Would do it again. Only saw 3 drink stations. More for post race would have been better.

Using a side road to hold the runners when the start line is on an actual straight away, is not a smart idea. As a runner, it was a sandwich-fest to navigate through the crowd while trying to make a turn before even reaching the start line.

Very Easy Run (Doctors Orders). Stayed beside the wife maintaining a very easy conversational jog. Felt really good throughout. Controlled the HR and kept in in the low 160s without any trouble. Paced the missus during the run for parts of it.
Course: Loop. Flat and could have been very fast
