Comments: I had never run a stand alone 5k. I took off very fast and hit the first mile at 6:04 which was mucho faster than my desired pace of 6:30. I did the next mile in 6:45 and screwed the pooch for the last 1.1 miles. Bad pacing but it was still fun. My overall time was actually slower than my fastest sprint tri 5k times so I think my training and race plan are to blame for not beating that time in a stand alone. What would you do differently?: I had only run a couple times since my HIM a month ago and none of them were any high intensity. Might have run a few more times but I was doing this for fun so I am cool with the results.  Post race
Warm down: ate a banana What limited your ability to perform faster: my really short richard simmons shorts? Event comments: The swag, shirt and food were better for this local 20$ race than the Columbus 100$ marathon. Great job ORRRC! Last updated: 2009-10-28 12:00 AM

I parked illegally downtown so I could quickly pick up my packet and change into my costume so I could make the costume judging contest. After placing second I ran back to my car, hopped in and found a legal parking lot without a fear of towing. I made it back to the finish line 3 minutes before the race started.
