Extreme Veteran 682 Canton, MI. via Detroit | Subject: RE: Martian Marathon I was there early. Damn it was ccccoooold. I couldn't find anyone, and my brother-in-law was stuck in traffic. I finished in 1:55:07 a PR. So I'm happy with that. Just my own stupidity that I didn't see you guys. |

Champion 6627 Rochester Hills, Michigan | Subject: RE: Martian Marathon I completely bailed...was there at 5:45 for packet pickup, as it were...didn't see peeps, grabbed the shirt, and disappeared back home. Sounds like a good time was had by all. And yeah, it was hella cold. Even IF I was thinking of running, that sank that ship with a fat torpedo. |

Member 125 Chelsea, MI | Subject: RE: Martian Marathon It was brrrr at the start, but it warmed up amazingly fast - I had shed my runnerjacket by mile 4 or so. Sorry I missed you all at the pre-meet, but I had my packet already and fail at getting up in time to leave by 5:30, apparently. Got to shake hands with Smoak and get yelled at by G, at least! It was the best part of the run. Hoping to do a better job of meeting a bunch of you at Hawk Island... Heather |

Master 1895 | Subject: RE: Martian Marathon What a fun race! I really enjoyed the 10K route. It was great to chat with you all before and after the race and to see some of you PR'ing. Congrats Trish, Ranger Dave, Stefanie (who I don't think is actually on BT), Kath and everyone else. Jennifer Lynn, I DID see you! And you were looking great too. I'm glad you yelled for me and we'll have to try to run together sometime soon. |

Expert 1145 Ann Arbor, MI | Subject: RE: Martian Marathon We (Jazz and Yeats) got a bit of a later start that morning, so we missed y'all beforehand, but it sounds like everyone had a great time. G and Smoak gave me a couple of big shout outs at much needed times during the half -- that was so cool, thanks! I may have to start a new thread about this one, but I'd definitely be up for a May unofficial/official random BT/non-BT affiliated training day with anyone interested at ILRA. |

Expert 819 In the Shadow of the Big House | Subject: RE: Martian Marathon Great job to everyone who raced and volunteered on Saturday. What a great day to run. Stuck around afterward to watch my son run in the mini. What fun. 1000 kids running all out for a mile and a quarter with no clue. My son finished in under 8 mins. When he came across the finish line I was so proud. When I told him how fast he ran, he said "That's pretty good, but I had to stop and wait a couple of times for the other kids to catch up. I didn't want to get too far ahead of them." Ummm...What???!! We laughed about that most of the way home. |

Master 3205 ann arbor, michigan | Subject: RE: Martian Marathon Sorry I did not get to meet up with anyone on Saturday. It was a crazy day all around. I basically arrived at 7:20, ran, finished the marathon, walked up to my car, got in and drove home to make sure I could meet all of my family requirements for the day. The race was really great. As I posted before, it was my first full marathon and I wasn't quite sure what to expect. It went better than I had hoped for and I will definitely be doing another full mary before 2010 is over. If I would have been following the thread closer I would have known where to look for the BTers at the aid stations. Oh well, maybe next time. |

You may wannabefaster, but you're pretty darn fast already! :) Thanks and congrats on your first as well. It looks like you had a great race. It is fun to see results for people you "know?" Now that I know what is involved and how hard you have to train, I think I CAN be a bit faster. I am amazed by how much fun I had at the race. If I had more time to hang out I am sure that it would have been even more fun. I am aching to start training again--but really I am still just aching! It will be a couple more days before I do any serious running. Jason Edited by wannabefaster 2010-04-15 8:36 AM |
