Pre-race routine:

This was supposed to be the Tyranena Half Marathon race report, but, I grabbed the wrong race entry and changed the date. D'OH.

Woke up at 3:50 a.m. to go to work and assist with a computer migration. Leave by 9:45 a.m. at work to get to Lake Mills.
Breakfast was a nanner and about 30 oz. of InfinIT solution.
Event warmup:

Got dressed and chatted with a number of Donks.
Put on both pair of swim goggles, in honor of Tony (2goggs).
Met up with Wavedog, cweninger (Clint) and wife JoeRunner (Terri), AmyJo, Schwimmycoach (faux BT'er ;) ), DJDorkey (I meant DJDavey, typo ya know) ;) , TriDDS (Chris) and wife tri-n-spin (Jeanne) with Chris' Mom and kids, gofishlips (gofishtlp/Tracy) and her son, lrunfit, tall_tri_dad (Pete), jmwebs (Jim), Whizzzzz, MissKelly, Coredump, Schmize and his wife, skavoovie (Dave), and bscharff (Ben).

Comments:

Found a dollar on the road in the first 1/4 - 1/2 mile! It should have been a penny with heads up, then I probably would have had better luck.

Took off a little too quickly and paid for it the final 5 miles.

There was this giant carrot that greeted racers up the last "killer" hill, but, it seemed to favor racers that were Donkeys! I think it went by the name "Deanna". ;)
What would you do differently?:

Not take such a long break after IM and train?
Post race
Warm down:

Talk, hobble back to car, change, and get beer tickets.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not take such a long break after IM and train?

Event comments:

The first and last aid stations ran out of gatorade and/or water and/or cups. How stupid is that for a small-town race??
The volunteers couldn't pour fast enough to get the water/gatorade out to the racers. Poor volunteers.

The meat-lasagna with the red sauce was okay. The beer was alright. The participatory medal appears to be getting smaller and smaller with each passing year.
At least the weather was gorgeous, but a little too warm for November and racing-wise!

Hung out with most of the Donks mentioned earlier, and met SSMinnow (Suzy), and Dar89 (Don).

I heard Lara made a presence.

Missing this year was Morey1. Also M.I.A. was Craiggers (he don't love me anymore *sniff* ;) ).

Good run.  I did my first half a couple of weeks ago.  It was a brutal trail run - but should make me stronger.  I suppose you intended to brake 2 hours.  Good job hangin in there given the long break since the IM.

Yeah.  If anything, it was the warmth that did me in.  I think I could have broke 2 if it was around 10 deg. cooler.  Oh, well.

Trail runs are fun, but work ya.

Nice job Phil. Also nice to finally meet. It's kind of sad to complain about the weather being too hot in
November, but it definitely took it's toll on most of us (except Lisa and Ben).

Solid?  Hardly.  That's my worse race I've had in years.  Blech.

Did you get short-changed on the aid stations and not getting some water?
