Comments: Didn't kill myself on the run...was :24 off my goal of 28 minutes, but it was a bit warm. Wish I'd worn my HP monitor to see where my HR was...will probably do so for the Medved 5K, just to get an idea. What would you do differently?: Drink a bit more water before race...my mouth was dry before the start. I didn't drink any water on course but didn't feel like I missed anything here. Post race
Warm down: Slow jog for another minute or two, then walking around to get food and water. Had 2 scoops Endurox with H20 post race (within 10-15 minutes of race finish). 2 bananas and a bit of sub. Was very hungry last night ~11 pm. Only had a Clif bar and a Gu as my pre-race dinner. What limited your ability to perform faster: Only my limited training regimen. I raced the plan--not to go crazy and be a hero, just to shoot for 8:00s and feel good after the race and the next day. As I write this on Friday, I have no muscle soreness at all. (KNOCK WOOD!) Work--this was a 7 pm start.
Half a mile jog to loosen up. A very warm day, so muscles were loose and relaxed.
