Bigtalon - 2010-06-14 9:33 PM Yes fast approaching now! I live In Tupper Lake I've done the 56 mile course a few times now and still trying to manage cramps/fatigue 6-8 miles from finish I really feel the bike, legs cramp soo i need to work that out. Swim is on par with last year not any faster but able to breathe bilateral so I"m coming out of the water less hypoxic! Main concern is running after the bike! I have no problem with the olympic distance but this half iron is a total different animal. I've ridden the course 3:09 training & 3:16 with a strong headwind maybe race day I will just do a 3:30 bike and hope I have legs left for the run, it will be hard to go that slow hmmm????? Help!!!!
pre ride taking 2 endurolytes and trying to hydrate before the ride
I'm drinking 2 bottles of heed during the ride
eating 1 bag power bites and two hammer gels on the bike
do you feel thats enough?or do I need more am I missing something?
I agree with your strategy on the bike, it's nice to see folks saying they will go a little slower on race day.....a good thing for the iron distance races!!
Try one gel about 20 minutes before your swim
(good plan to hydrate btw
)
two years ago they had water at the half way for us so definitely grab one of those to make it three bottles
(two heed one water...or grab a gatorade if they have those
)
don't forget about nutrition on the run....not sure what your speed/plan is but one gel every half an hour is a commonly accepted plan. they will have water and heed
(i think
) plus banannas etc. every couple of miles.....but bring your own gels and adjust as necessary.
My name's jc and i'll be up there tomorrow night with the family. I race 35-39, maybe we will bump into each other
(black cervelo/desoto wetsuit
)
