I just ran my first marathon this weekend and it felt great.  I'm now really focusing on my biking, since my swimming/running are up to snuff.  Need to try to get some extra speed on the wheels these last couple weeks.  Finally getting off the trainer and onto the road here in NYC, which is nice too!  In reply to some of the others saying we haven't had much chatter going on, I agree, but I also have been swamped with work/training/etc... that I haven't been able to update my logs for awhile now, and definitely not my blog either!  Pretty much coincides with leaving that laid back LA life behind and being back in the rush of NYC.

We are looking at about 350-400 athletes for the Half.  Getting ready for the race now and Rev3 staff is getting excited!

Right now the website says every 10 miles on the bike and every mile on the run.   Gu is the energy gel sponsor so I assume that is what will be on course.   Bummer since I can't do gu!  I'll have to carry my First Endurance Liquid Shot along!

ON the radio show last night they said it will be gu rocktane and CeraSport (sports drink) on course.  I'm not familiar with CeraSport - anyone out there use it?  I think I will probably stick to carrying my EFS drink and liquid shot.

Hey Rev3-ers!

Just chiming in.  I just got the word that I will likely be doing the Olympic or the 1/2.

I have no experience with the TN river.  What are the chances of wetsuits being legal for this event?  It may have an impact on which event I choose to do.

Thanks.

Peace,
~Sam

They are anticipating it being a wetsuit event - the website says traditional wetsuits are not required but recommended.

All of a sudden we are having sauna weather here in the mid atlantic/south east! It could be a HOT race day! I am starting my heat acclimation now - noon track work - forecast says temp. will be 90.  Ouch.

I found that coincidentally my children have their national gymnastics meet the same week as the Rev3 race (both) in Knoxville.  Don't know if I will be ready, but seems to be destiny to race!  Couple of questions, much current in the river?  How hilly is the course?

Which race are you going to do?  I don't know about the current, maybe some locals can answer that one better.  Someone posted the elevation profile above, I think rolling sounds better than hilly for this one.  Race Directors have said it will be challenging enough to break up the packs, but not as hard as Quassy.  (thank goodness!)  I have a $10 off code on my blog - save a few $$!

I was thinkning about doing the half IM distance.  The website had the elevation chart, but it is so small that I couldn't hardly read it.  I come from the flatlands of Indiana.  I do like having something to break up the packs, if it was very hilly I might consider my road bike.  I will probably pull the trigger this weekend after a little more thought.  I love the HIM distance.

I don't think it's road bike hilly.  If I remember correctly the climbs were mostly in the 1 - 3% grade.

I agree, I think most of the climbs are 1-3.  I saw a larger version of the map somewhere, but can't remember where.

Last I heard it was 400 - 450.  Did you check out the wave start?  With only 2 waves of half folks I am glad to be a woman - there are always less of us!!

No doubt!  Now if I could just find a woman who was planning on swimming a 31 min. swim that is willing to do all the work for me . .  .

Not sure if I am allowed to post the info here (I had a post pulled about the radio show before), but the local pro from Knoxville Eric Bell will be on the REV3 radio show tonight at 8pm talking about the course and what to expect in Knoxville.  I have the link posted on my blog which is on my signature line below.
