Swim
  • 13m 52s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 35s / 100 yards
Comments:

Sally Edwards was psycing everyone up in the water before we started.

Good swim for me. I tried starting near the front of my wave for the first time, and I was okay about getting through the whole pack swim even swimming around someone that seemed to be going perpendicular to the course.

My best navigation ever. I stayed on course and didn't swim any extra. This was a really good time for me.
Transition 1
  • 02m 30s
Comments:

Not the best transition. There was a long run, short ways up the beach and then a longer part on asphalt.

Felt like I was moving slowly in hte transition area.
Bike
  • 46m 41s
  • 13.9 miles
  • 17.87 mile/hr
Comments:

Wow. Great bike! Me and my MOUNTAIN BIKE had a great run on this course. I had a couple people get next to me to tell me that I'll be really fast when I get a road bike. It was very inspiring. I can't wait.

For the first part of the ride, I had someone drafting me. I don't care so much that she was cheating, whatever, it's your race, but I'm not used to having someone follow me so close. I just don't do that type of riding. So, I slowed down and waved her past, and she grabbed the wheel of the person in front of me. We both lost her on the first big uphill. For most of hte last loop of the race I was trading places with a woman on a Cervelo P3. I don't think she was happy about it.
What would you do differently?:

I need to get a road bike. (I have found the one I'm getting, and I even got a big check from a job I worked a couple months ago. However, my husband was laid off 2 days before I got the check, so I'm waiting for him to find work before I get my new bike).
Transition 2
  • 01m 47s
Comments:

Just off the bike, I had a tough time running into the transition area, like I had no control of my legs.

I felt like I forgot what to do in the transition area. Um, put on hat, then race belt, oh yeah, shoes, but the socks first.
What would you do differently?:

I'm going to work on race like transitions in bricks. I usually take my time in training.
Run
  • 24m 31s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 55s  min/mile
Comments:

I felt like I was running hard, but slow (my time was good - for me - I felt like I was going slower). I know that my breathing sounded awful (my friend Lisa said she heard me coming up from behind, and thought, "that poor girl," then as I passed her, she realized it was me.

I'm never comfortable at all during the run. I figure if I'm feeling good, I should be pushing harder, but it's painful while I'm doing it. I just don't know how I'm going to get through the 10k of the next tri I'm signed up for.
Post race
Event comments:

I really liked this Danskin race. It was probably the most organized race I've done. I would also like to do more all-women's races.

Nice RR...but I don't think your total time is accurate... 6 hours and 45 minutes!!

Awesome job and it sounds like a lot of fun!

On a mountain bike your blazing...just watch out when your hubby gets a job and you a road bike....for not feeling good your run was great.

5th in your age group riding a mountain bike, that's awesome!  They are all right, you will be flying when you get a road or tri bike.  Great job.
