Ok, call me nature boy! but I tell you I feel & perform better. I have worked out with both Gatorade and 100% Apple Juice (slightly diluted) and have found that Apple Juice is noticable better. Am I missing something (other than media hype). Your thoughts?

No you are not missing naything, other than artifical additives and simple sugars put in gatorade. As long as you are getting the electrolytes you need its all good.

Stick with what nature poduces, thats what I think. Its cheaper and healthier in the long run.

If it works for you, that's great, but may I make a couple of points? First, it's not that both drinks contain carbs or sodium or potassium, etc., that's important. A high-quality sports drink is formulated to provide nutrients and minerals in the proper ratio to each other. Apple juice is not. Apple juice contains 100% more sugar than Gatorade. It doesn't matter if it's "natural" - sugar is sugar. Now I'm no fan of Gatorade, but I do know that sugar will lead to an insulin spike, which might make you feel good for awhile, but sooner or later it wears off. If you're drinking apple juice prior to, during or after a short workout, that might be OK, but there's probably a good reason you won't see professional endurance athletes relying on it for long training sessions or events. Sometimes there's a tendency for us to want to re-invent the wheel with our own methods and concoctions. Personally I'm wary of that. I try to adopt the proven strategies of those  who have succeeded before me. In any case, good luck to you.

Sugar (simple carbohydrate) is the most efficience source of energy.  In a single serving, apple juice has more sugar than gatorade.  Of course it gives you better performance.  I always have a glass of fruit juice (any type) before my morning work out.

They have actually looked at this quite a lot and sorry to tell you but a sports drink wins.  Most people can't tolerate juice.  Too sweet and only one kind of carb. I guess whatever works for you.  makes a lot of people puke.

I use diluted apple juice exclusively during long base building rides during the winter, and recovery rides during the summer. I do switch to carbo-pro for longer and harder training efforts during the race season.

Sorry but your not selling me on the apple juice. In the summer especially I can easily go through 1 or 1 and 1/2 bottles so that'll be way to many calories to digest. Not only that the ratio's are way off on potassium and sodium. My advice would be to throw in the few extra bux for a real sports drink.

I am a HUGE fan of applejuice as well! I will agree with a lot of the negative comments, but add that I have negotiated these by #1 diluting the juice by at least 50% (keep the calorie count down) and I add 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of salt to get the sodium where I want it. I will sweat my brains out and feel fantastic when I'm done! I also MUCH prefer the flavor to any of the sports alternatives.

On the topic of research, I'd also like to point this out: in a downloadable odf of a study called "The Physiological Effects of Gatorade® Versus Diluted Fruit Juice during Exercise" -
"The findings of the current study support diluted fruit juice as comparable to water or Gatorade® in regards to physiological effects during exercise. "
