Walked from T-station to team meeting place and stretched, then walked/jogged to the start line

Comments:

started well. Made the mistake of trying to keep up with a friend whose pace was around 8.5 min/mile at the beginning. The place was packed and got pushed to the side of the street and sort of tripped over at the curb and almost sprain my ankle. Skipped a water station as it was too crowded and didn't want to wait for water (all cups were empty)At around 3/4 of the run, some guy in front stopped and I had to slow down to a walk. The lack of will power led me to walk for about a minute before picking up pace again.
What would you do differently?:

Run at my own pace.
Makde sure to stay hydrated at such a hot day.

Warm down:

Walked to get drinks and snacks. Stretched out calves and thighs

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Heat and lack of will power

I used to volunteer at this when I lived in Boston   No empty water cups at our table!!!!  Always lots of runners at this one!  Awesome job, especially on the crowded course!

Reminds me of when I used to do the Corporate Challenge in NYC back in the early 80s.  There would be tons of people, and always seemed to be hot as Hades.  What burned me up the most were the knuckleheads who lined up in front, and would be walking within the first 100 yards.  I nearly tripped and twisted ankles several times in years I did those races.

The races were fun, but I don't miss the corporate rat race!!!
