Run
Comments: I had a great time. My only downfall was not taking any hydration with me-I was shaking from lack of calories-even with aid stations during first half....would never go out there without a camelback again but I survived and the volunteers were FABULOUS! What would you do differently?: Next year's goal-go under 8 hours. I thought I would do this course in seven hours-hahaha-I reevaluated my plan a few times that day bc I had no idea the difficulty of the trails. I slowed way down towards the end-last ten miles but I loved every minute of it despite record low temps. Post race
Warm down: Quickly got in car to warm up and carefully pull of socks to see damage to feet-both feet split open at bottom with several blisters on toes but well worth the pain. What limited your ability to perform faster: I did the best I could and can't complain. This was my first trail run and first ultra-marathon!! My longest run had been 18 miles on flat land about a week prior to race-so I think handled it well and will do it again! I am looking forward to many more trail runs. Drove into Bandera the night before, got packet, checked into hotel, ate at Old Spanish Trail in downtown, laid out clothes, slept and woke up to single digit freezing temps!!
Running to the start, race had already started
