Michigander here,

My wife is thinking of signing up for the Flyin Pig Marathon and I see the entry fee is only $85.  Not that this is a bad thing but I was just hoping the price doesn't reflect quality.  Has anyone done this race and what are your thoughts.  Thanks for any input.

I ran the marathon in 2007 and LOVED it!  It is seroiusly one of my favorite races!  You definitely get your money's worth- they had aid stations every mile that were WELL STOCKED.  The expo was really smooth and they gave us a free poster and backpack- very cool.  I enjoyed the course as there were spectators around everywhere- except for the highway part around mile 18 but that was ok considering some marathons have zero spectators along the entire course.  I have nothing but good things to say about this race.  I traveled from GA to Ohio to run the Pig as one of my 50 States Marathons.

I have done some portion of the Pig every year since it started.  I have done the full mary twice.  It is definitely worth the money.  Every year, they give a great bag in the goodie bags.  Backpacks, messenger bags, gym-type bags.  Awesome quality.  I am still using the backpack from the 2001 marathon.  Shirts are technical type.  Great aid stations, tons of entertainment on the course.  Good crowd support.  It is a great marathon.  I highly recommend it.

Agree with the above. This race was so much fun... almost start to finish. Crowd support is fantastic for almost the entire course. Entertainment every mile. Fantastic aid stations. Great goody bag. Cool finisher's medal. Scenic route through a lot of diverse parts of Cincinnati.

I plan on being in for the full.

My wife did Cincy and Columbus and thought Cincy was by far and away the best of all the two races she has done

I've cheered the past several years, it's amazing the crowd support. This year i'm trying the full with my cousin. Should be interesting, as I LOVE hill running.

I did the half-mary last year in the rain and I thought it was great!  Much better than the Indy Mini!  Not too crowded, challenging with the hills, good crowd support, aid stations, goodie bag.  This one has it all!

Flying Pig sonds like such an exciting race. This will be my first marathon and it looks like I made a good choice. I am counting down the days until May 2! I am so excited. Good luck to everyone racing and I hope to see some of you there.

Agree with everyone else.

It was one of the best supported races I've done. Everything from aid stations, to churches having their own unofficial aid stations, to fans on the streets. Expo is well run and it's well known for the best free race gear out there.

Cannot say enough good things about it. I'll probably do it again at some point.

Signed up for the half as this is my first race - have had several friends do it in the past and all have had good experiences.  If all goes well might try to hit indy for a full later in the year - haear that course is a little flatter

I concur. My wife has done the half and last year did the full. At 13 weeks pregnant. Yeah...she's awesome.

I went through the expo with her and it's a first class deal. Lots of goodies like everyone said. And the route takes you through beautiful areas of the city. Great looking town.

I'm considering doing the half. Never run that far before. I have until April 9th to register before the next price increase. We'll see...
