Run
Comments: Nice run, always tough to pace well early with lots of runners. Moved up close to start, not close enough, took over a mile to have good spacing. Best costume, 5 girls with grass skirts, green shirts and on back one letter each spelling out RODEO. They were running side by side, gotta luv it. Tried to keep pace under 8/mi for mile 2 and 3. Lap 1 8:34.Lap 2 7:56 Lap 3 7:47. Not a PR but very happy with time. What would you do differently?: Nada Post race
Warm down: Post race, lots of lara and kash bars, gogurt, bananas, snickers, powerade, COFFEE-yea, hats, cups, soft drinks and beer plus live C&W band on stage. Nice thing about 5K, finishing early and first dibs on food. Excellent What limited your ability to perform faster: first mile pacing Event comments: Great venue, do 10K next year. Glad to sleep in till 6:30 since we celebrated my wife's b-day last evening. Race start 10K @ 9:30a, 5K @ 9:45. Downtown Houston run prior to Houston Livestock and Rodeo annual parade. My first time doing this and wow what a gathering; 13,000 combined runners and since it started where parade starts tons of spectators, cowboys, horses and wagons. Bright sunny morning welcomed all participants. Aggie band got things going prior to race. No chip timing for 5k so relied on Garmin.
Ate breakfast at home, oatmeal/eggs/coffee for ride into town
