I'm so glad you posted this!

I'm in for Busso for my first Iron distance too! I would have really loved to do Busso half, but timewise healthwise circumstancewise financewise it just didn't work out.

Anyhow, it looks like a fantastic venue and I'm very excited about it.

HI,

I knew there would be someone out there!!

How's your training going ? Have you done a Half IM yet? I'm registered for my first HIM in May. I've got one Olympic under my belt so far and enjoyed that.

Cheers,

Jeff

Right  now I'm just trying to get back into regular training. I did California 70.3 two years ago. I actually have not had much of a tri season or training for the past two seasons due to life circumstances. This year I'm doing Bali International in June and then maybe a road race or two (or other regional tris, if possible) before Busso.

What training plan will you be following? I'll be doing Don Fink's Be Iron Fit 30-week plan. I gotta do the countdown to see when that starts, again.

Ive not decided on a training plan just yet - I've got the Half IM in couple of weeks and will see how i go with that first. I followed a Ironguides programme for that one and I am considering switching to a Endurance Nation 20 week IM plan.

Online registrations for Ironman 70.3 Busselton will open at 9.00am (WST) on Monday 22nd November, 2010.

1400 individual and 250 team entries will be allocated for the 2011 event, which is being held on Saturday 7th May, 2010. Please note that Triathlon WA/Triathlon Australia members will have exclusive access to the online registration system for a 48 hour period. Access to online registrations will become available to the general public at 9.00am (WST) on Wednesday 24th November 2010, however if all entries are filled within the 48 hour member registration period this will not be an option.

Looks like it might be hard for non-TWA members to secure a spot. I would love to do this but will register for the Perth Olympic distance instead if I can't get a place.

How was everyone's race?
I thought IMWA was a great course with awesome volunteers!  This one was a new PR for me!  I hope everyone had a great day out there.

I really enjoyed my first IM. Your right Matthew the volunteers and supporters were fantastic. The course was pretty tough with the wind and the rough roads also the distance between aid stations on the back half of the run was pretty long. Definitely will do it again. You must have been pretty close to me!!

Greetings!

I managed to get a slot for 2011. Just wondering what sort of lodging options are out there and recommended by previous racers.

See you all next year!

Hi Nigel,
I stayed at Bunker Bay Resort - about 25 minutes from Busso - for the half in '10. It was gorgeous (but costly) and perfect if you dont mind the commute.  Be aware, however, that my car hire company didnt warn me ahead of time that you cant actually use the car between dusk and dawn due to the kangaroo menace on the roads!   I will stay here again for the Half, and for some time before the Full IM in '11, however I will try to stay closer to town on the day before and after the Full.  I had looked at Abbey Beach Resort and I think this appears the nicest place and is no more than 10 minutes from race venue.
Looking forward to a great year ahead.....
