jldicarlo - 2010-03-13 5:41 AM Am I missing something in this new goals thing (which is fabulous by the way)?

I can't seem to add a goal that says, "I want to swim 150,000 yards by such and such date".  It seems to want to average it over months...i.e. swim 30,000 yards per month for 5 months...which isn't the same thing at all.

Am I just doing it wrong?

There isn't that capability. It's designed to track and analyze incremental changes over time (with the exception of the text goal type of course).

You could create a text goal and use the Notes to enter your monthly totals.

(Using Windows 7/Chrome 4.0.249)

When I use the in-place editor to edit my blog (clicking the "Blog" link), it acts funny.

If I have more text than what can be seen on the screen at one time in the box, and I go down to the end and hit Return to give myself a new line:

1 - it only drops down one line, instead of leaving a blank line in between (like it does in this editor and the editor in the Training log page... carriage return rather than paragraph return????)

2 - the view is scrolled back to the top of the entry.  The cursor is still located at the bottom, but it has gone out of sight and the view looks like it did when I first clicked the link, with the top of the entry at the top.

So to edit my stuff... I click the blog link.  I'll ctrl-end down to the bottom.  I'll hit Return.  Then, because while the cursor is still down at the bottom but I can't see it, I ctrl-end down to the bottom again.  Then hit Return again (to give me a blank line in between what I'm going to write and my last paragraph).  The ctrl-end down to the bottom (again).  And THEN start typing in my new stuff.

(On IE8, I don't get a paragraph return - just a carriage return, like above, but the the view remains where it's supposed to be)

I'm trying to set up a goal for the year with an average number of miles per month biked. I made the start date of the goal 1/1/10, but the graph and numbers are saying that I have biked 0 miles so far this year. Is this a bug or are the goals not coded to be able to be put into affect retroactively? Thanks in advance.

Great update for Safari users!

I'm going to miss typing

all the time.

That worked too!   *Edit - funny - it worked in the preview, but not the post. After the word 'typing' I had    left bracket, br, right bracket repeated twice. On the preview it showed up as text, but on the post it executed the br's. Oh well - no biggie, as I am not typing them any more!

An idea for the training logs. My running pace today was 7.54 min/mile.  Any chance there could be a 7:31 option (i.e. min:sec per mile)?

Working on this today. We have a couple other minor things to test and we're doing some traveling to expos on the east coast during the next two weeks so it might not go live until early April.

Lot's of updates both big and small.  Please post any issues/errors too!
First, the small stuff:

1 - Safari/Chrome Rich Text Editor support
2 - Blog friends up to 200
3 - Graphs (trisports and health) now support multi-year option
4 - Album security updated to your log's 'privacy settings'
5 - Facebook and Twitter badges for articles.

And....(Drumroll)....

1 - GOALS
Within your 'training log' settings tab.  You're going to like this... (though blame anything on mike, he did this...)

As usual, you guys rock Ron!

Hey again-

I re-defined my goals, but they do not update in the side bar and the old goals are still there.

On another issue, I have changed my email in my account info, but newsletters etc still go to my old account.

Thanks!

uclamatt2007 - 2010-03-09 10:11 PM The goals interface is really nice. Maybe I'm missing it, but is there no way to edit an existing goal short of deleting it and making a new one? That would be nice for revising goals.

That was intentional. If a goal isn't being met, a new one should be created, which is functionally the same as editing it.

The intent was to create something of a mental barrier to editing goals to meet the actual results. No fudging.

I get the point, but it would be nice to move the goal from the sidebar to the dashboard (or vice versa) without having to delete and recreate it.

Something seems a touch wonky with the goals....

I have a goal to weigh no more than 145 by 3/27/2010.

I put my weight in today as 148.4 (03/24/2010).

It tells me that I have to lose 7.9 pounds/week to reach my goal.

I can see how that math got that way, but should the goals recognize that there's less than the "week" left and simply default to saying that I need to lose 3.4 pounds by 3/27/2010 to meet my goal?

(and, btw, I'll be hard-pressed to lose the 3.4 by Saturday, much less 7.9 by then! )

Everything works great now except I can't reply to inspires.  When I try to click reply it just magnifies the word reply but doesn't go anywhere.

Thx

Nothing relating to Inspires was changed with this update.  I just tested this with Safari and it worked fine.

Is it possible that the Inspires window is open under your current browser window? Or that you have popups blocked for BeginnerTriathlete?

Use to have a windows based machine all my life.  Just got an apple end of November and inspires has never worked (assimed it was a BT thing) so I have been using Firefox when on the Apple.  But Safari works better on the Apple.  I'll check and see if popups are blocked.  Since I'm new to Apple haven't figured it all out yet and nothing shows popups are blocked.  Thanks for the idea.  I'll check it when I get home.
