Total Time = 59m 49s
Overall Rank = 55/550
Age Group = 30-39
Age Group Rank = 21/220
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 5:45am and took a shower to "wake" up. Had my typical yogurt and granola. Added a half PB&J sandwich and my leftover nonfat vanilla latte from yesterday. Got one song in my head (JayZ Emire State of Mind) before heading off to the race :).
Event warmup:

jogged for 5mins prior to starting. Weather was already hot at 8am, so body felt pretty warmed up.
Run
  • 12m 39s
  • 3 kms
  • 04m 13s  min/km
Comments:

I knew 3km would be a blitz run. My legs felt pretty fresh from taking some days off of running due to a soar back, so I tried to keep up with the lead pack for as long as possible.
What would you do differently?:

nothing. I was really happy about this effort. I don't think I've run this pace in a race before. Surely, I wouldn't be able to do this for 10km, but was happy to keep it up for 3km!
Transition 1
  • 01m 11s
Comments:

Took a few extra seconds to catch my breath and get my shoes on.
What would you do differently?:

not too much. I'll eventually get comfortable with having my shoes attached to the bike and running out of T1 barefoot. Not rush here though..
Bike
  • 30m 38s
  • 18 kms
  • 35.26 km/hr
Comments:

I maintained a high cadence to allow my heart rate to drop a bit. I could have pushed harder, but I wanted to make sure I had legs for a good effort on the run.
What would you do differently?:

could have push a bit harder..
Transition 2
  • 00m 59s
Comments:

running with bike cleats is always difficult, but getting into T2 was fine.
What would you do differently?:

learn to dismount with shoes clipped in.
Run
  • 14m 20s
  • 3 kms
  • 04m 47s  min/km
Comments:

It was getting pretty hot at this point. It's always hard to run in heat & humidity like this. Had a fast pacer who kept me honest!
Post race
Warm down:

Walk around a bit while pouring water on me to cool off. Made sure to stretch and find the massage booth :).

Congratulations! Great race, esp. the pace on the first run.

Are you doing any other TriBob races this year? I'll be doing Bintan Olympic in May ...

Thanks, TriAya!!  One of my best efforts to date.

Yup, I'm doing the Tribob Sprint Tri and Bintan Olympic in may as well.  Maybe we'll run into each other. Happy training!!

Nice work Tuffli! Leaving the shoes clipped in will definitely help the T2 time. On your rides just randomly take your feet out of your shoes and ride for a few minutes with them on top of your shoes. This also gives you practice getting your feet in your shoes when they're clipped in for T1.

Make sure if you meet up with Yanti you give her a big hug from me!!
