This, except not in the sarc font. I do think they look silly, but I'm sure people think I look silly much of the time. Exactly...I don't care if they are aerodynamic and make you a little bit faster...they look retarded...same with compression socks, never understood that trend either, but if it works for you, hey, go for it. Gee, in a sport where we wear skin tight lycra in bright colors, guys shave their legs as a rule, and people practice peeing on the bike, you're going to single out aero helmets as a fashion faux pas? Spandex is spandex...it's normal to me and I don't wear bright colors. I don't think guys shaving their legs is weird or their arms for that (may men who are in to sports do it)...and I would never pee on the bike (not sure what that has to do with fashion). And yes I will still do and will always think aero helmets look retarded...especially the long ones, they seem to be getting shorter so they don't look quite as bad, but I would still never wear one. |

Maybe use a different word. To retard as a verb is to make slow...they don't look slow. They look bada$$. Notice the dollar signs to indicate that they are not only awesome, but they cost only two ($$), where aero wheels may cost four ($$$$). Someone has absconded with your sense of bada$$ne$$! |

At the last race I did, there was a guy wearing a man bra (a Mra), slash tummy shirt. He had a tramp stamp - I kid you not. Tribal design, of course, that spread across his entire lower back. I think he wore the mra specifically to show it off. I bet he wore an aero helmet, too. |

Extreme Veteran 398 Denver | Subject: RE: aero helmet? worth it? who wears one? I wear and aero helmet and can feel a difference in wind resistance over my road helmet, especialy when it's windy. no idea how much time it saves me but I feel better using it when riding by myself or during a race. no problem at all from heat even in Miami during the summer. and by the way, didn't spend anywhere near $150 for it. so for me a resounding yes, it's worth it....even though I admit it does look a little strange as my wife points out every time I leave the house with it on ;-) |

Pro 6011 Camp Hill, Pennsylvania | Subject: RE: aero helmet? worth it? who wears one? I'm sticking with my Bell Volt, because it's comfortable, and the little bit of time I could potentially save with an aero helmet just isn't worth it for me. It has nothing to do with money, it's all about being comfortable with what I'm using. |

I have a picture of me wearing mine on the wall, and when people see it, the first thing they remark is how fast I look. They never said that when I had a picture on the wall of me riding with my Helios on. However my aero helmet does seem to slow me down a bit on the swim leg. You're supposed to wear it backwards for the swim part, silly. Just rotate it forward on your head a bit and keep your face down. It will look like a shark fin and people with get out of your way. |

Master 5557 , California | Subject: RE: aero helmet? worth it? who wears one? I bought the aero toys. My attitude is that if I'm comfortable with what I spent, and I enjoy it then why not? Plus now I can't make any mental excuses to myself. If I want to go faster I have to ride harder. The end. |

Elite 4235 Spring, TX | Subject: RE: aero helmet? worth it? who wears one? I don't undestand the resistance to "free speed". Aero helmets, on average, have been shown to be about the biggest bang for the buck accessory you can buy. I don't have the engine that Chrissie Wellington has, so I need all those extra little benefits! |

BUT if you look at most the races guys or girls that have the top bike splits will wear one. what is that tell you. there are always exceptions. ie craig alexander or chrissie, then again most AGers dont run a 2:45 marathon off the bike in an IM.
