Subject: TT bike to Road Bike?
Might be a dumb question but could I put a road bike handle bar on a TT bike?  What would it take to make that happen if possible?

THANKS

Yeah totally possible. Off the top of my head, you would need:

The bar and brifters.
Bar tape
You may also need new cables and housing since the distances from the brifters to brakes and shifters will be different then from the aero bars and base bar. Although, it could be shorter and you may be ok with simply cutting the cables a bit.
Also depending on fit, a new stem perhaps.

Yes it can be done as described above. But the real question is why?? I hope you realize that the bike may not fit or ride very well after the conversion.

I have no idea why other than found a bike that I might want but for some reason have in my head that I need a road handle bar.  If will affect the fit that much?  In that case sounds like a stupid idea...I was just thinking that it would be something similiar to put clip-ons on a road bike, guess not huh?

There are many things that go into how a bike is going to handle and normally a bike that is designed to be riden in a tri/TT configuration is going to have some issues when setup as a road bike.  Some of the considerations are rake and trail, seat tube angle, head tube angle, head tube length, top tube length, wheelbase and chainstay lengths.

You can add road bars to a TT bike, however it may not handle well and you might not be able to get comfortable using the drops in this configuration.

Nope.  If you are looking at TT bike with the idea that you're going to swap out the front end for road bars, you're probably looking at the wrong bike for yourself.

Keep looking, and find yourself a good road bike.

2 cents.

Don't do it... it's a waste of your money. The fit will be quite a bit off and affect the handling of the bike in a very negative way.

Save your money and buy some other bike instead.
