New clyde here. I did my first duathlon this past Sunday. During the run I got passed by a couple of Athenas. It was best part of the day!   Love this thread, thanks

Well, since my last post here, I've gotten hitched, so while it's not a triathlon related pic, I hope you'll allow it. This is a picture of me cutting the cake at the wedding. My hubby and I find the cake cutting tradition a bit silly so we made light of it by attacking the cake.

The bruise on my arm is from rock climbing, the tan line is from training. Hopefully that makes it all a bit more tri appropriate. :-)

Posting a photo from my 3rd sprint triathlon (September 2011 in Arizona), with a monster grin on my face after sprinting to the line to get under 1 hour 40 minutes for the first time.  I then discovered that the swim course was 1000 m instead of the posted 750 m, so that meant I was about 2-3 minutes faster for a 'standard' sprint tri course!  Fun, fun day all round

New to ALL of this, and new to BT, but I have to say that reading through this thread the last few days has been thrilling and empowering for me.  Due to medical stuff and genetics, weight has always been a struggle.  Getting into yoga last year was the first time I really started to feel comfortable in my own skin, which led me to the elliptical... and then the treadmill... and then, for kicks and giggles, going into a run for short bursts.  I didn't hate it as much as I always had.

And somehow got the crazy idea that I wanted to work toward a triathlon.  (WHAT?)  But I've always wanted to learn to be a competent swimmer, and the fact that I've never thought I could do something like this kind of makes me want to.  It's the blessing of being in my 30's-- the freedom and confidence to think, "screw it! I want to do it!". 

At any rate, seeing the strong, fit, amazing women here along with the men who genuinely appreciate beauty in all of its forms has been both inspiring and healing.  You women are GORGEOUS--curvy, confident, stunning. 

At the moment, I could qualify as an Athena, but given that I'm 5'2", I really shouldn't be.  I tend to always have a muscular build even when I'm in excellent shape, so I'll never be 'skinny' or 110 pounds, but I'm getting to where I can accept where I am NOW and work from there. 

Thanks to the beautiful people on this thread for giving me something to aspire to.  There are too many to mention by name, but I'll try in the coming weeks (Rachel, Daffodil, KadiKeri, and now I'm blanking...).

I promise that someday, when I have a pic of me in appropriate athletic stuff, I'll post it here too.
