Run
Comments: The course stays flat next to the Brazos for a little bit, then takes a hard left onto a steep climb. The course was AMAZING. Super steep climbs with some rocky sections. A lot of switch backs (? name ?) roots, hills, more hills, water crossings, etc. Really awesome stuff! I came to the first water crossing and quickly realized that I wouldn't be getting through this thing without getting my feet completely submerged. Of course I farted around for a good 5 minutes before I got my feet completely wet. I was pretty strong running up the hills, but I was very timid going down the hills. Loose rocks, roots, etc. kept me from getting too aggressive. Around mile 5 I caught up to two ladies and the hubby of one. The two ladies were chatting it up, and having fun. I figured I would pace off them and let them know. They were cool with it. They would go way faster downhill, but I would catch them uphill. So it all worked out. Had I not found them, I know the run would have been a lot slower. Finally finished and I was happy to be done. :) Overall a really great race! Post race
Event comments: Really loved this race! It wasn't a huge production, which I like. There was only a handful of runners doing all the distances and it was nice to have such a small crowd. We got to park right next to the start line. The swag was a jacket too! Very cool! The food afterwards was nice as well. I will be going back in 2011 to do this one again! The challenging course was amazing! Last updated: 2010-03-04 12:00 AM
