Age Group Rank = 21/59
Pre-race routine:

Early morning breakfast of builder bar and an orange and water. I set up transition area after arriving early to watch the super-frog athletes going off so I had my choice of racks and got pretty close to bike out / swim in. It was a good spot.
Event warmup:

I ran a little down the beach to warm up then went back to watch the iron distance start.
Swim
  • 25m 50s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 34s / 100 yards
Comments:

this was surprising to say the least. I guess OWS practice helped alot.
Transition 1
  • 04m 12s
Comments:

long run in transition
Bike
  • 1h 19m 18s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 18.80 mile/hr
Comments:

slower than I initially thought. I guess I know where I still need to focus my work the most.
Transition 2
  • 00m 58s
Run
  • 47m
  • 6.21 miles
  • 07m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

I started cramping in my hamstring around mile 4 so I had to shorten my stride a bit to compensate...I was able to manage it without stopping.
Post race
Warm down:

waded out into the water to cool down legs for about 10 minutes (till I was freezing)

Nice work out there.  It was really windy going south on both the bike and the run.  Sorry, but I didn't see your post about meeting up beforehand.  We were in the same wave, so probably racked pretty close to each other and didn't know it.  Good job!

Thanks for the nice comments all.

Aaron, it was a great venue...flat and well run. A bit nasty on the wind but nothing can be done about that. The only down side of the olympic was the long run from the bay side to the transition area. I almost would've rather swam on the ocean side and dealt with the waves. Running right out of the water is calf-cramp city for me.

Jenn, I'm going to focus on Calgary next...I might do some other race stuff for fun but will be trying to make sure I don't hurt myself ;-)

For those looking to move up from sprint, it's harder but definitely do-able.

Impressive race Bob.  Good times in all three sports.  Glad you had a good race and learned a little about your training and abilities.  Now apply that knowledge to kill the next one even more.
