Subject: Tri Gear in Oregon?

Hello,
New to tri sports.  Just did the Albany spint and had a blast.  I have been calling bike shops in Medford, Eugene, and Portland and everyone says they can order tri gear (tri shoes, tri suits etc.) but most don't have a lot in stock to try on.  What shop in Oregon is familiar and stocks tri gear?  I am also shopping for a Tri-bike and would  like to get fit (measured).  Who do you recommend?

Thanks for the info

Brent

In Portland:

Athletes Lounge:  Tri gear and bikes.  The only tri-specialty bike shop in PDX I believe.  www.athleteslounge.com

All Tri-Sports:  Just tri gear, no bikes.  www.alltrisports.com

REI has a small selection of Tri Gear.  I recently purchased my Zoot tri-suit from REI.

Full disclosure, I'm one of the partners that owns Athletes Lounge in Portland. We're the only full-service triathlon focused retail store in the Portland Metropolitan area. There was another soft goods (no bikes) tri store in the Gateway district, but they closed their doors last fall.

Northwest Multisports in Corvalis is the only other full-service triathlon shop in Oregon. Gordie, the owner, is very knowledgeable and a heck of a cyclist. I'm sure he'll take good care of you if you don't want to make the trek to Portland.

There are bike shops in Portland that carry a limited supply of tri bikes. River City carries Cervelo, and usually has a good inventory. Bike Gallery carries Trek and Orbea, but I don't believe they have much inventory of tri bikes on the floor. Cycle Path occasionally has Scott tri bikes in stock.

Fit Right NW usually has a few soft goods items.

REI and Performance carry some items.

If you come by the store, please introduce yourself as being part of the BT community. I'm the tall skinny guy.

Train safe.

I have been receiving the notices about the changes you've made to your store. I'm curious. Did you add any square footage in the sales area?

No new retail floor space at Athlete's Lounge, but more stuff in the area they have!

Scott and the other guys at AL are great supporters of the sport in this area and definitely deserve your business.

We've remodeled and it did add some more floor space, but it's still a tight space. That said, as part of the remodel was a change in merchandising and we have tripled the amount of inventory we have on display and we have a large off-site backstock.

We also have a state-of-the-art training facility available to coaches and their athletes featuring a two-lane endless pool with an underwater video system, computrainer multi-rider system, and five woodway treadmills.

If it's been a few months since you were last here, things have changed dramatically.

hi,
yes it is hard to find tri gear in stock.  When it comes to bikes and getting fitted in Portland though I recommend Veloce Bicycles on Hawthorn.  They might not have the bike in stock but you will get measured and the bike you want will get ordered they also sell concession bikes.  Then they take you measurements and get you fitted.   They mostly sell Felt and the owner Demetri knows what he is talking about.  Check them out!
