Subject: Looking for a 70.3 in October
Hi,

Me and a friend are looking to complete our first 70.3 this fall and I am looking around for some interesting one.  The race doesn't have to be Ironman branded but it has to be late September or October.

I would prefer one not too far from Quebec, but I don't mind jumping on a plane if I have to.

If you have any suggestion for a race please let me know.

Thank you in advance!

Longhorn 70.3 in Austin, TX  isn't exactly close but it is in October and Keith puts on an awesome race.

I have been looking at Longhorn, it looks like an amazing race but a bit far from here. And honestly, I was looking for a race with a run course not as hilly as this one for my first half.

Augusta has a pretty flat run course.  Sept 26th.

Take a look at the SOMA HIM in Phoenix on Oct 24th. It takes place on the same route as the Ironman Arizona course. Not close to Quebec but the course is relatively flat and good experience if you ever want to go back and do the IM AZ.

The Augusta 70.3 is at the end of September.  You'd have to travel to GA for it though.

I did Augusta HIM (September 26th) last year. It is a good late season "Ironman" branded event. It may be a bit further south than you want.

quick overview at Augusta:
swim - very fast, you are in a river with a decent current. I finished 15min sooner than i predicted.
bike - good rolling hills, nothing to steep or vicious.
run - very, very, very flat. its a double loop course downtown and spectators can get to see you/ cheer you on 8 - 10 times during your run.

I am signed up for the Half Full (October 3rd) tri just south of Baltimore, MD. ( http://www.halffulltri.org) Its for a good cause and will cost only $170 for the entry fee (vs $225 for Ironman) and the fee will go entirely to the Ulman Cancer Fund. Its an inaugural event but I don't think the course is overly demanding.

Syracuse 70.3 , Sept 19th.

Ditto this.  Close-ish to Quebec, and from the route profile and comments in the race thread it seems like it's going to be a relatively straighforward course (run is flat to downhill, bike has an opening climb, long downhill into T2).  This will be my first HIM and I'm psyched for the course.

It's early Sept., but I am doing the REV3 half at Cedar Point - that one is Sept. 12.

Early Oct. is the Halfmax (it's the long course champ race, but you can register to just do the race w/o qualifying) in Myrtle Beach, SC - it doesn't get much flatter than that!  That one is the first weekend in Oct.

if you don't mind jumping on a plane, come to Elbaman 70.3!
it is an amazing race, best event voted last year in Italy in terms of organization and landscape. same day full ironman and the half. I will be there for the half. it is last week end of september.
