Age Group Rank = 281/286
Pre-race routine:

Nil- It was mothers day so we got up, dealt with kids and drove to the event, We tried to meet up with some of my wifes co-workers but ended up wandering around downtown Calgary for an hour looking for them,
Event warmup:

Trying to stay warm in the SNOW. spent some time in the hotel lobbies and in building vestibules. A little group warm up before the start of the race consisted of jumps and leg swings.
Run
  • 1h 12m 2s
  • 10 kms
  • 07m 12s  min/km
Comments:

Cold. Only 2 water stations, there was no mention of them in the race info, I should have carried some with me. Too many clothes by the halfway point but didn't want to strip any because of the wind. Longest run I have ever done, pretty proud for just completing and having my family there when it was done was awesome. I am still waaay fat and need to keep working on that. (287 at race start and 279 when I got home and weighed after a banana and 500ml of water.)
What would you do differently?:

Better clothes and carried some water with me. WEIGH LESS, RUN FASTER.
Post race
Warm down:

wandered around the finish area and ate a banana and some water, walked back to the truck and drove home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The weather, my weight and lack of knowledge at that distance.

Event comments:

It is a fundraiser for the NICU that my wife works for, It is a great cause and I love to do it. Next year they will do it with me, they all promised.
