*blushing* But what about my eyes???? *fluttering eyes*

I have a CD with Garrison Keillor reciting the poem. It's beautiful. Whitman's poem isn't just superbly crafted, it's filled with pathos and reverence. Beautiful, beautiful poem.

Friday: Pretend to work while actually looking for vacation ideas for me an hubby later this summer. Pool party tonight with neighbors- heavy drinking involved. Hilarious time guarunteed

Saturday: 40-ish mile bike ride w/ super buff, kick my ass Sue. Weeding (maybe, I've only been talking about doing it for 2 weeks now) and mulching (if weeding gets done).  Another pool party, more drinking.

Sunday: Take it easy, probably head out for a run to undo some of the weekend indiscretions. Watch fireworks downtown at the Arch (my favorite time downtown). Eat a funnel cake that cost a small fortune.

Monday: Another bike ride, reflecting on freedom and avoiding thoughts surrounding our current governement.  Find a serviceman to thank. Another pool party, more drinking.

Really- I don't drink so much, but I see it as part of my RAGBRAI training this month.

Have a safe and happy Fourth!

Canada Day Party tonight, company in for the rest of the weekend.   A ranch hand rodeo, perhaps.  And a dance at the Fair Grounds....

With all this reference to Abe, one might be interested to know that today, in my husband's country of Suriname, is the date of immancipation of the slaves there.  A festival celebrating this was our first date.....

This kinda highlights one question - why does the US not celebrate the Immancipation Proclaimation?

Another side note - what are all you Canadians doing for Canada Day???

Friday:  Big swim in the AM, run for an hour after work.

Saturday:  Run for hour fifteen.

Sunday: 120 mile bike ride

Monday: EVIL Brick ( 2:50 ride, 25min  run )  A good portion of the bike is in zone3 or higher.  This is going to hurt.

What holiday weekend?

-C

Friday- Look at BT while supposedly working, then clean the house and buy food for the weekend, maybe check to make sure the tiki torches by the pool light and look cool. Work on getting my arms to look a little more like Wonder Woman's- she's got some pretty fly arms...

Saturday- Sis and BIL with niece coming up for the weekend! I'll be showing off our new location in Jersey- it's really quite "farm-y" here in the Garden State, if you get away from Manhattan. Maybe go to the local Carnival that's here.

Sunday- Maybe a hike in the AM with sis and my dog. Afternoon pool party and BBQ with family and friends.

Monday- Say bye to sis and then watch fireworks and listen to patriotic music at the ball fields.

Meanwhile, I'm going to try to get in my usual long run on Sat. and possibly a ride on Sun- if not, then monday after sis leaves.

Should be fun- besides, I have the cutest niece.... she's way cuter than your neice!

Oh no you don't... I have the cutest neice.  She's a three year old spunky readhead who is hilarious. She only loves me for my totally awesome dog.

Friday - Walking around with some paper in my hands and a frustrated look on my face so no one bugs me the rest of the day at work!!! Then go for a 20 mile bike ride tonight.
Saturday/Sunday - Heading up to Casper Wyoming for a wedding, then back on Sun.
Monday - Going to attempt climbing Mount Evans (14,264 feet). Overall roundtrip hike should be around 8 miles, starting at around 10,000 feet. Then back home for a neighborhood 4th party with some beer and fireworks.

i'm doing the minneman sprint tri bright and early tomorrow (http://www.minnemantri.com). after that, i'll shower, eat some peanut butter, and change into my camping threads. we're going backpacking at wild river state park (http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_parks/wild_river). the state is shutting down, but the parks are still open! (we have our priorities straight, don't we?). this is the park where my husband proposed. we've been there hiking with the girls, and backpacking there once since ella was born, but this will be our first trip there with both girls. last time we camped there, we hiked past a beaver dam that should be very close to where we are planning to camp on this trip. its only a couple miles in, but when backpacking with a 4 year old and 1 1/2 year old, that's far enough! we're hoping to cover 30+ miles of the superior hiking trail in the fall, so this is a good trial trail run for them.

Did a brick this morning.

Now we're heading down with our two little ones to the Live8 concert.

Then church, home repair and bar-b-q the rest of the weekend.

absolutely nothing for 2 reasons: 1) I'm 32 weeks pregnant and it's over 100 and it's doo darn hot - even the pools are too warm to enjoy and cool off in and 2) my daughter has come down with chicken pox.... Lucky me!

Have a great weekend!
