Total Time = 3h 58m 10s
Overall Rank = 237/244
Age Group = M-4045
Age Group Rank = 16/17
Pre-race routine:

Not much set up transistion and scoped out the scene and got to pool deck
Event warmup:

Some light stretching and calming nerves
  • 43m 5s
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 52s / 100 meters

I was worried that this would have been the worst part of this tri and I would tank but I didn't and I paced myself quite well off of this other guy. Could have been a bit faster but hey not bad.
What would you do differently?:

Swim faster and be in better shape.
Transition 1
  • 00m

A really bad t1 as I sat on the ground getting my bike shoes on. My first transition with bike shoes before did the bike with runners. Felt awkward and clumsy about a 4-5 min t1 should have been about 1:30 Time is included in bike making my bike look real bad.
What would you do differently?:

  • 1h 44m 31s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 14.27 mile/hr

This time includes transistion times in which I must have been last as but the bike felt good as long as I was going downhill. Going uphill I was a SLUG or worse yet a hillslug. Gotta get faster up the hills other than that it was good.
What would you do differently?:

Actually move up the hills and learn how to grab a cup of poweraide.
Transition 2
  • 00m

Again another 4 min? trans time included in my bike time just seem to take long getting organized for the run. had to use toilet too.
What would you do differently?:

Everything. Get more organized
  • 1h 30m 35s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 14m 35s  min/mile

A hard hard run if you can call it that more like a slow trot with some make that alot of walking in between. My legs were spent after about 2k and another 8k to go. Had GI issues at 5K and had to walk to 7k and felt better so I trotted abit and walked abit to get in wanted to break 1:10 ummm make that 1:20 ummmm make that 1:30 got close to the last goal though but made my biggest goal and that was finishing the race.
What would you do differently?:

Actually try running and be at least remotly close to an hour. Also lose a lot of weight and learn to run decently.
Post race
Warm down:

Lots and lots of streching

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Out of shape and having GI issues on run and organizational issues on transistions.

Event comments:

Not bad race will do it again either Oly or relay with my family could have used facilties at the 7k mark of run though.
