This is a very hard run, probably one of the hardest 50Ks in the nation. Most of the run went well but there was a section that is about 5.5 miles long that is about 2 miles from the end. The section is called the wasteland because of a massive fire that took out all the trees anoug 5 years ago. Now that area is completely exposed and rock strewn. By the time I hit that the winds were up to 50 mph gusts and it was over 80 degrees. I do terribly in the heat and this was just hot and dry and windy. I probably lost 20 minutes or more slogging through that area.
