Pre-race routine:

Got up and ate an orange and started hydrating. Ate a Clif bar and a banana on the way up along with drinking an Ultra and some water.
Event warmup:

Jogged around the parking lot and killed a gel 45 and 15 min. before the event started.
Swim
  • 25m 35s
  • 1094 yards
  • 02m 20s / 100 yards
Comments:

Getting more comfortable in the open water. Navigating without stopping and avoiding the "log jam" going around the bouys better.
What would you do differently?:

Make sure my wetsuit is up over my shoulders! That is driving me nuts...Could've have pushed it a bit harder in the water today.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Was dissapointed I couldn't do the barefoot transition thing today. That pavement was DEATH! Think the T1 time was in the swim today, but not sure.
What would you do differently?:

Not much, was happy with my transition today!
Bike
  • 48m 4s
  • 14.29 miles
  • 17.84 mile/hr
Comments:

Course was great! Very challenging course, glad I did Tempe International before this. Felt better about climbing and my gear changing. I just gotta get in better shape and keep pluggin' away.
What would you do differently?:

Not alot, I was ok with my bike ride today. I definately made some adjustments to my approach in the last couple of weeks that helped me.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

I felt real good about T2 today! It was bam bam bam! Very quick, had my shoes on and I was off. Put my race belt on while I was on the go. No wasted time here today!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing! I think T2 was in the bike time, not sure.
Run
  • 33m 1s
  • 3.6 miles
  • 09m 10s  min/mile
Comments:

Did a great job of focusing on this run, very technical course. 1 mistake and yer toast! Felt good about sighting in and catching up with people and using the energy of the race to help propel me. I pushed pretty hard on the run. I constantly tell myself, sometimes out loud, no regrets, no regrets. Don't start slacking on the run and regret it afterwards. Try and leave it all on the course.
What would you do differently?:

Not much, felt real good about my run today!
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, drank my recovery drink right after I got done. Hung out for the raffle and talked to Todd some more.... Met some some cool people today and had the greatest time.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Just need more base, base, base!!!!!

Event comments:

This was definately the best race I've been to so far! Very organized, more than enough volunteers, and had a great raffle afterwards. Met some real good people today and went solo today, so Todd(phxphotg) cheering me on at every corner helped me alot! Was smiling the whole time either inwardly or outwardly! I love this sport! Great people, great enviroment, and a positive community!

Great job Todd. Based on your times, I think I recall you (and a small group of other runners) blow by me just before the foot bridge on the run.  You guys were flying by!
