![]() Swim
Comments: Felt pretty good throughout this swim. I caught a couple of mouthfuls of water that didn't help much but I pushed through it and found some good drafting along the course. The swim seemed a little long and I thought that I was faster than my time indicated. (I have read that it was up to 300M long, so I feel better about that.) What would you do differently?: Maybe push a little harder early. I think I settled for the first draft I could find and could have gone a little harder to find someone faster to pull me. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Didn't have many problems in T1. I did get distracted when I heard a friend's name called and slowed down to look for him when I should have focused on getting on the bike. No excuses, though. It was a "squirrel moment" for me. What would you do differently?: Focus on getting out w/out getting distracted. ![]() Bike
Comments: I had some pain in the glutes toward the end of the race but I was pretty comfortable throughout. The course was very crowded on my last 2 laps and I think I lost some time navigating through slower riders. Again, no excuses, and I'm not the only one that had to deal with that but it was out there. What would you do differently?: Train more. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Think this went okay for me. Not fast but not slow, either. What would you do differently?: Not much ![]() Run
Comments: I'm slow, so I can't really complain about the run. Running, for me, is something that I slog through. As long as I remember to stay focused on form, I can run for a long time, just not fast. The course was a little long due to some construction downtown but that's okay. (That means I'm not as slow as I thought I was. Still slow, but not as slow.) What would you do differently?: Train more. I need to do more Z4 training during my runs to build some speed. I don't have a problem recovering but would like to be able to run a little faster on shorter runs. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Got a bunch of fluids in me and tried to stay out of the sun. What limited your ability to perform faster: Needed to train a little more but I'm relatively satisfied. I would have liked to have been about 5 minutes faster off the bike but I wasn't. The run was a little slower that I would have liked but that is due to a lack of run training. It will come. PB & Banana Sandwich and a drive to the race.
Did a little stretching but they didn't let anyone in the water to warm up, so I hung out with some friends until I staged to start.
