Getting really nervous about these thunderstorms that are supposed to come through tomorrow... Hope they're gone by 6pm!  Actually by 5:30 because the website says they will wait 30 minutes following any thunder/lightning strikes.

Are there any extra items I should bring to prepare for rain?  I was thinking some plastic bags to keep stuff dry and extra socks... anything else?

The weather could be an issue. Let's all stay safe out there.
Socks? skip them.
Maybe a baseball cap or visor for the run.
Stay warm. I know it's a billion degrees out. sometimes after a front goes through the temp can drop 20° fast. put that together with some wet rain and cold could be an issue.

The storms are not good.  I'm hoping that this doesn't get canceled.

I did bad.  During the swim and bike I could feel cramping coming on, and then during the run it just became full-blown.

Anyway, does anyone know what the actual distance of the bike course was?

That was fun. I did well. Perfect weather, nice and warm. Thank you to all the volunteers. I wanted to wear my wet suit but they said the water was too warm.  Also I think the swim course was long or maybe it was short last year.

I had a great time, despite being attacked by my plantar fasciitis in a big way on the run. The weather was (amazingly) perfect, if warm, the swim and the bike went smoothly, and there was this really cute guy at the finish taking timing chips... Sorry to miss meeting the rest of you. Laughing

The swim especially and the bike did seem long... maybe it was the heat. I generally don't think I am negative but, I was somewhat dissappointed with the smell of the water, I live on a lake and it has never smelled like that.  Also, the fact that my bike was thrown down 4 places from where I hung it and that I had to search a row away for my helmet threw me off.  I was also surprised to see how many people in my group cheated on the swim and cut the corner at the farthest bouy...shameless/ no monitors DQing people.  I have done other Tri's and they seemed much more friendly.  Undecided about comimng back for another.  I shouldn't even mention that while I was not first, I was definitely not DFL.... and all the food was gone and cleaned up when I crossed the line.Undecided

Wow I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience.  That is especially awful that people were consciously cutting corners on the swim and that there was no food for you... I think it is worth e-mailing the RD about your disappointments and maybe they can make improvements for future events...
