The current was pretty solidly against us, which made some of the longer stretches between bouys seem endless-- you'd swim for what seemed like forever and the landmarks didn't look any closer. Still, I kept a steady pace, passed a fair number of people. I caught a couple of packs but didn't stay with anyone for too long. Finally turned into the marina side by side with another guy. We both started sprinting for the finish and I beat him to the timing mat by about 2 seconds. It's the little things...
What would you do differently?:
Not much. It was ok. I did fine considering the conditions. Swimming against the current sux.
Got my swag bag and ate some food, then chilled out for a while and went to lunch with my cheering section.
NYC Swim puts on a great race. I enjoyed this race as much as last year, and I'd do it again.

Got there about an hour before the race. Hung out with Dad and my son. Got into my suit and ate a gel with about 20 minutes to go.
