Started off like gang busters running the first 5k in less than 20 minutes. Right on pace to break 40 minutes which was my goal. Heart Rate was anywhere from 170-186 going up Cardiac Hill. Mile 4 was a disaster as my pace went from 6:40min/mile to 7:50 min/mile. Heat and humidity were huge factors.

Evidently I need to go out and ride 5 hours the day before. Last year I clocked a 42:30 after riding for 5 hours the day before in preparation for IMUSA the end of the month. This year I really focused on this race and did alot of extra track work and tapered for the run the week prior. Next year I am riding the day before whether I am doing and IM next year or not.

Walked drank warm water then went and got 2 Powerades and a Coke one from the post race


Heat and humidity...I trained in the hottest part of the day to prepare but it didn't seem to help. I had dead legs from the beginning


I love the Peachtree....will continue to race as long as I am able
