Subject: Swimmer's Itch from Lake Mills Tri

I have a friend who just did the Lake Mills Tria nd ended up with something similar to swimmer's itch on all the parts of her body not covered by her wetsuit (besides her face, fortunately).  Anyone having the same issue?

I got this once in Devil's Lake and will never go in there again!

I have about 5 'mystery' bites on one of my feet that seemed to have appeared after Lake Mills. However I don't think it is swimmers itch and I don't have them any where else.

My girlfriend did Lake Mills as well and ended up with about 10 small bites or hives on her right foot that still haven't gone away as of today.  They don't really look like bug bites but they're something that welted up.  They look more like an allergic reaction rather than actual bites.  It's not swimmers itch.  She didn't feel them itch until Sunday night.  So far, the Benadryl isn't working.

Sand fleas?  Something in the grass?  Something in the water?

It takes about a week for chigger bites to ease up...

Yup, there has been some sort of bug at Lake Mills in the last few years too.  It will go away, just rub some dirt on it.

Just don't tell your wife, what she doesn't know won't hurt her.......

Edited to add...

And, I was wrong, my friend has the bites/welts on her face as well.

this is just too ironic...I got up this am with bites or something that itches all over my arms and legs (squitos don't ever leave a mark on me) and I had spent hours in the pond yesterday pulling weeds. Never happened before. Also never had it happen at Lake Mills.
