Pre-race routine:

Stayed overnight in Canmore. It was nice that I didn't have to do the 2hr drive race morning.

Had a bowl of Vector Cereal about 2hrs prior to race start. Then just tried to keep my hydration up with half and half Water and Gatorade mix.
Event warmup:

Had fun with my family!
Swim
  • 07m 4s
  • 300 meters
  • 02m 22s / 100 meters
Comments:

Water felt thin if that makes any sense.
What would you do differently?:

Calm down... it is only the first leg... relax, smooth and easy, it doesn't matter what the people around you are doing.
Transition 1
  • 01m
Comments:

Mixed in the Bike time.
What would you do differently?:

Shirt first...
Bike
  • 19m 59s
  • 8.47 kms
  • 25.43 km/hr
What would you do differently?:

Push a little harder again. I still feel I left a little on the bike course.
Transition 2
  • 01m
What would you do differently?:

Second transition went well. I think a little more practice on this one an I will have it.
Run
  • 17m 21s
  • 3 kms
  • 05m 47s  min/km
Comments:

A little bit of a challenge, but I think I did well for my first Trail Run.
What would you do differently?:

Find an unpaved trail to do a couple of practice runs on.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not sure I think I just need to do some interval speed drills for the run and bike.

Event comments:

Lots of fun and really family oriented. We all had a great time even though I was the only one racing.

It was a fun race. I will be adding some trail running into my plan as well. I struck quite a few roots and things along the golf course.
