Age Group Rank = 8/28
Pre-race routine:

Feels weird to set up for a sprint. It's nice not to have tons of gear.
Event warmup:

None. Swim start time was 30 minutes after the race started and I didn't want to stand around wet getting cold.
Swim
  • 04m 47s
  • 250 yards
  • 01m 55s / 100 yards
Comments:

The pool was organized into 10 lanes so you only did one direction per length. This made it very nice for passing. I passed 3 people. Was very happy with my swim.
What would you do differently?:

nothing.
Transition 1
  • 01m 24s
Comments:

The back strap on the helmet got stuck so I took a second to adjust that, other wise it was a good T1. I really need to learn a flying mount, I so wanted to try it today.
What would you do differently?:

Know how to leave shoes on bike and do a flying mount.
Bike

Comments:

Very happy with this bike. Only 2 hick ups. Around mile 6 there was a lot of vehicular traffic and I got stuck behind 2 cars that wouldn't go ANYWHERE! I had worked hard to get my average pace up to 19mph until this point and then it dropped to 18.7. Therefore I had to bust my butt on the second half to regain the lost speed.

At one of the turns I was preparing to pass the lady infront of me. I called out, "on your left" and she answered "okay," yet she moved to her left and hugged the center of the road for the turn. Therefore I had to brake to make the turn and then speed up to pass her. I'm going to excuse her behavior as newby lack of knowledge but it was frustrating.

Overall it was a great ride. Passed lots of folks.
What would you do differently?:

Not get stuck behind cars.
Transition 2
  • 01m 18s
Comments:

I SOOOO wanted to pull out of my shoes on the way in but again thought better of it.
What would you do differently?:

Learn how to do a flying dismount.
Run
  • 31m 20s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 10m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

Pretty good run for me. First lap was 9:45, then around 10:20 for the last 2. I stopped only to drink my water. I really hate getting water up my nose while I'm running so I have no problem with those few moments of walking. Otherwise I did pretty good.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe run a little faster but this was cool.
Post race
Warm down:

got more water and waited for Katie to finish.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Once again it was in the high 90s by run time but I'm getting more used to it.

Event comments:

First year for this event. Very well organized and lots of fun. I'll be back next year to improve that run time. Very cute trophies. Age groupers got little pigs and the overall winners got the Big Bad Wolf trophies.
