I've just signed up for IMAZ.. WOO HOO! I read that the water temp was 70 degrees this year. I'm curious about how many of you chose to wear a wetsuit? My first tri was in 64 degree water-without a wetsuit.. it was only a sprint, so it wasn't to bad. doing 2.4 miles will be a diff. story though... so, wetsuit or no.. I've read that fit is the most important detail when it comes to choosing a brand.. any other suggestions? thanks!

This is a no brainer...Get a wetsuit.  The water temp is not the issue so much.  The fact is that a properly fitted wetsuit keeps you bouyant and you will swim way faster with way less effort, thus more to offer on the bike/run.  Bascially, nornal Age Grouper goes without one.  My guess is that there were 2 or 3 peopel w/o wetsuits at IMAZ at the most

Definitely go with the wetsuit- especially since it's a long race.  I would want all the help I could get with the swim!

WETSUIT... definately...

I think the potential for Hypothermia is pretty good for being in the water for that extended period of time.

Not to mention what it could do for the rest of the race if you body was required to burn greater that expected calories to maintain it normal temperature while in mid 60 water.

I think 70 degrees is definitely warm enough to go without a wetsuit....but yeah, like they said, 2.4 miles goes a LOT faster if you're more buoyant. I'm still debating the same issue about IMAZ myself, but I'm not sure what to do yet.
