There's a nice spreadsheet on slowtwitch with analysis of the finishers' race results here.  it summarizes what place you were in after each discpline/transition and how many places you gained or lost during each, both overall, by gender, and by division.  Looks like there were 1310 finishers of which 1074 were male and 236 female.

Cool, thanks for posting that. I was going to try and extract the data from the finisher's PDF to get sortable splits & such. Glad someone has already done it!

Who else did race reports? Post them in here if you did them.

Here's mine.

Was a great day, though I haven't decided yet on next year.

Put mine in the race report thread today. I really enjoy reading other folks' reports!

Just posted mine in the race report thread. I learned much from those that posted theirs after 2010 so figured that I should try to pay it forward.

There were about 25 IMSG race reorts posted on here last year. Looks like we only have a few this time around. Maybe people are still reovering.

Rumor around here(St. George) has it that the run course will be changed for 2012. They are going to get it off that hill. Tentative discussions are taking place between the powers that be.

Maybe I'll get around to writing my RR (although I still haven't written up Silverman 2010 or IM NZ yet either).

To me, it would be a big shame if they made the run course easier.  I liked the run course.  Of course, it didn't hurt that between T2 and the run, I made up 240 places, so the hillier and hotter, the better!

I hope they don't do that. There are plenty of flat run courses out there if someone wants one, but very few courses like St. George. Plus the views on the run course are awesome.

I did hear that they are widening Red Cliffs drive to four lanes with bike lanes -- which would be fantastic. And, they were even talking about making an overpass where Red Cliffs hits Snow Canyon drive so they could eliminate the bike path portion of the ride (which would be another nice improvement).

Although the run killed me, I agree, leave the course the same. I am sure organizers want more participants but I think IMSG should use their course as a marketing tool to distinguish themselves from the other races...because those of us who have done IMSG know "There are people who have done an Ironman, and then there are people who have done the St. George Ironman!"

I totally agree that they shouldn't change the run course.... I too thought at the beginning that I may not finish, but that's the magic of it. Like they say, "if it were easy, everyone would do it!"

I'd be in for 2012, but it's time to make "iron baby"

So IMSG vets - any recs on where to stay?  Have 2 small kids, so amenities and proximity to finish/spectating are important.  Their little legs don't like walking too far
