Um, John....according to your projected swim course, there are 3 feet of climbing in the swim.  I am NOT doing an IM with an uphill swim!

Maybe that's what Keith was talking about it being a "unique" swim course!

Here's my best guess how they'll do the swim course.  I really don't see how they can pull off a mass start.  There's just not enough width in the main part of the lake.  I think by the time you get to the canal, it'll be thinned out enough not to be a problem.

it seems tight from the map that you are showing, but the width of the lake at the start is more than a football field. That's more room than you get at IMAZ and Kona. I would agree with the course though, with the exception that it becomes a 2 loop swim (I heard a while back it was one of the ideas.).

The swim through the canal has potential to be exciting if spectators are along both sides.

So with it being comparable to IMAZ and Kona, it's more likely that it'll be a mass start?  Probably treading water just out from the bridge?

I'm either riding on the back of one of the local alligators, or holding on to your feet...treading water notwithstanding.

After going back and forth on this for several days, I wish I could say that I am in but it would simply be too much for May of 2011 for me. 2012 will be a much better plan. I will be following this thread closely and come May 21st of next year, I will be in the medical tent hoping not to see any of you, but if I do I will be more than happy to start your IV and give you some fluids to get you feeling better!

Good luck to all!

I may need to introduce myself before the race, so you know who I am when I am carried into the tent after I finish...

Phew... I am so glad that Alligator riding is not banned by Ironman. Checking off swimming from my training schedule, now!

I appreciated the age group starts that we had at Ironman Lonestar. Hopefully Keith will keep those as part of his "signature." (Oh yeah... and if he's listening, we'd still like bacon and the firemen!)

I'm in! No IMs yet but Woody will be #2 as I'm attempting Cozumel in November.

I'm also planning on Lonestar as a tune-up, I was actually glad the races were spaced far enough apart that I can do both

I am going to do a HIM aquabike in september so will want it for that.  This is the one I was looking at

I think it is 100% fabric so will be OK but not sure

It's still early, but when we start making plans for pre/post race get togethers, I volunteer to host a bbq at my house.  It's big enough for all the BTers to come!

The women's SCS Liftfoil suit will not be legal for WTC events after September 1, 2010... per De Soto's website.

The new 2011 Liftfoil suits announced by Emilio De Soto today: http://forum.slowtwitch.com/gforum.cgi?post=2882302 will be legal.  That's the men's suit.  I'm sure a women's version will be coming soon.

Keith- My vote is for a Mass start for the swim. If you do a wave start PLEASE start the 45+ women near the start. Please!!!!! Ladies first?

The wave starts that you had a Longhorn 08 were also good.

Wishing I would be here but taking the family on our first European Grand Tour for the entire summer. I would have volunteered the first one anyway. Hope to have a few halfs under before I bite off a full...

Good luck to all who drank the cool aid!

This is the same suit but the 2011 version.  It is WTC legal b/c it is no longer rubberized:

Just back from Galveston.
Just reading through all of the posts since I left the woodlands on Wed
Yes, there will be more than 3 aid stations on the bike. They'll be every 10-12 miles.
Yes, true, CB&I is still on. It was a big consideration when the date was chosen, as we didn't want to adversely affect the event.
Yes, Ironman 70.3 Texas in Galveston will be a GREAT tune up/warm up for IMTX! It's April 11, 2011....6 weeks out.

Swim will be a 1-loop, unless something really strange happens. MASS Start, unless something really weird happens....

I'm tightlipped on bike and run stuff, but it'll be VERY nice

Off to NH for 2 weeks, for Black Fly Tri, Timberman stuff. Then, back to TX to get rolling on IMTX!!!!!

Any of you not racing, LOVE to have you volunteer. We need 3000!!!!!

Yes, Carey should bring her pitchfork and horns

The race is filling faster than I expected. It'll be full pretty fast!!!!!!
