Total Time = 2h 11m 48s
Overall Rank = 76/114
Age Group = F 20-29
Age Group Rank = 11/18
Pre-race routine:

Only had about 3 hours sleep - slept for 2 hours, was up all night, then slept 1 hour before alarm went off.

Got up, had a green smoothie, went pee a bunch of times, drove to the race.
Event warmup:

Wandered around, went pee about 4 more times, stretched a little bit, sat around nervously.
Run
  • 2h 11m 48s
  • 13.11 miles
  • 10m 03s  min/mile
Comments:

Stuck to my plan of starting out slowly. I was at the back of the pack and a lot of people zoomed past me but I kept plodding along slow and steady. I sped up in the second half and passed quite a few people.

I stopped at a lot of the aid stations in the first 7 miles or so and had Gatorade. I felt hydrated and so I skipped a lot of the stations in the last half.

What would you do differently?:

Not much. I wasn't planning on doing this race, it was a spur of the moment decision. I wasn't sure I was ready for a half marathon but I think I did pretty well - finished strong!
Post race
Warm down:

Guzzled back water, ate some banana and orange. Stumbled to my car and drove home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Honestly I think I performed to the best of my abilities. I really feel like I gave it my all. I'm not a fast runner so averaging 10:03/mile over 13 miles for me is pretty good!

Event comments:

The only reason I am not giving this race 5 stars is because of the post race bbq. I am a vegan there was NOTHING at all I could eat. There were some bananas at the finish line but they cut them up into tiny pieces and I was given the evil eye when I tried to take more than one piece.

Very respectable time for a spur of the moment race.
Lack of sleep is not surprising...the trick is to get your sleep the night before the night before the race...
I hear you on post race food. I'm fortunate (or unfortunate) enough to tolerate chicken. If I didn't I'd never get any protein in after a race. You know there is no actual meat in that burger...other than the flies...ewwww.

Well done!
