Comments:

Took a breast stroke kick to the head. What was mor eimpressive was how the guy wrapped his foot around my neck and pushed me down a bit.
Otherwise, the swim was uneventful.
What would you do differently?:

Transition 1
  • 03m 15s
Comments:

Had to stop for a bathroom break. I was militant abotu hydrating, so no surprise here.

Someone had knocked over my bike so my aero water bottle was empty. I had a bottle to take with me on the run, so I dumped enough water in my bottle to get me to the first water station.

Post race
Warm down:

Got an IV.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training over the last 3 months. Gained 8 pounds in the last month.

Event comments:

I started my own business last year. In April, it got the best of me and I had to limit my training. This continued through June.

I did not start at Lonestar and I did nto want to do that twice in a row, so I showed up knowing it was going to be a long, tough day.

I went from wanting to PR the distance earlier this year to matching my PR, to wanting to PR the course by th etime race day showed up. Teh last time I did this race, which was in 2004, I weighed 35 pounds more than now and did not really know how to train for this distance.

I knocked an hour off of my previous best time at this course but I was an horu 20 minutes slower than my last 1/2 IM. I guess proper training makes a HUGE difference :-0

This race was just about gutting it out when I knew I was in for a tough day.

Great job! I should have gotten an IV at the finish... I heard they worked wonders for recovery!  The EMT told me they handed out over 3000 of them.  only 861+ participants! HA!

Once again ~ solid effort on a tough course! Way to go!
