FS just posted the maps for this triathlon. Both are out and backs. I live in this neighborhood, so if you have questions I'll see if I have the answers. The bike is only 10 miles so it is kinda short, but I have to do it as it goes by my development as well as my kids elementary school. Shortest I will ever travel to a race Laughing!

Is there anything about this course (bike) that would warrant a pre-ride?

If so, I'll make arrangements.  If not, I'll wing-it.

Thanks.

For only a 10 mile out-and-back it is surprisingly hilly. There is one traffic circle too. I would ride it if I was you. Send me a PM and maybe I'll join you.

Probably this weekend. It says it will be at the Rex Wellness Center. I will go by tonight and ask there to see if they have any information.

I got to drive the course, today.  Hilly?  Well....let's just say MY interpretation of the course is.....you'd better make your time on the "back" portion of the "out and back".

I couldn't discern the run course from the maps I had.  I'm hoping it'll be well-manned.

One more thing......I'm gonna be REALLY surprised if there isn't a crash or a near-miss on the bike course.  It doesn't look anywhere near "safe", to me.  Too much fauna and too many driveways.  I'll hope for the best.

Good luck to all.  Doug....I'll call you, if I can make it down for a pre-ride.  Like I said....the "back" looks FAST.

Jeff,

The later part out the bike course, the far side of Falls of Neuse, is where the driveways are. There is very little traffic there, so I doubt there will be issues there. The biggest issue is the traffic circle.

The run course is the same as the beginning of the bike course, up to the circle. Then your turn right instead of left. make the next right on Canes way until you get toi the tennis courts. Then you turnaround and reverse everything you just did. Kind of shaped like a "walking can."

I live close to Rex and belong there. The run is pretty easy. I've been flying through it at a sub 8 min pace, which is fast for me.
